I can't remember if it was Tim or Brad, but one of our GK legends said that problem is that they need to go back to the basics and start selecting future GK's first on bravery. I guess he means guys who can put out that last ditch effort and dive without thinking. Apparently, we are currently over fixated with foot skills. He also noted the same as you that our current starting GKs are from NCAA - outside the system.

    That's a global phenomenon atm. The keeper-sweeper.

Foot skills are good, but not at the expense of quality goalkeeping

The ones that hurt their plight the most will be pulisic and dest I reckon, just off of one game alone. Pulisic is legit gonna have to think of NYCFC for the payday perspective or have to be happy at AC Milan I think. And Dest...........well, the amount of money he lost this transfer window for himself and PSV is something that is going to be studied for a long time.

I don’t know if we saw the same thing but Friedel talked a lot about mentality. I interpreted what he said more as mental resilience — the guy who can get scored on and go out there determined not to make the same mistake. So maybe it was different.

I do think the fanbase is sleeping on that move.........hes still young in defender years and Rennes are an annual Europa spot contender in Ligue 1. On paper, that is better than Joe Scally's position. It absolutely has next cycle relevance.

I would have expected more people to be interested in it.

I believe that Reynolds has untapped potential, and a place like Rennes seems like a great place for him.

I am cautiously optimistic but probably like me i doubt many people watched him play at westerlo much. Unclear if he will even be a starter at rennes but interested to see how it goes

We've seen enough guys emerge from the wilderness to understand that that you should never really close a door on a player, good reminder for my Busio take in a different thread. That being said, I don't see anything in his #'s, and my memories since he moved to Belgium were a sense that he just wasn't putting it together. Not that he completely flamed out, like Soto, or Uly Llanez style, but rather that he stuck, made the roster, has been a starter for four years in a row, but meh?

Would be awesome to see him hit though and be able to move on from Scally who's nice enough depth but someone nobody ever wants to actually start.

Just you wait: he'll have a breakout season and then a few usual suspects will come on BS and start screaming about "Why didn't Poch call him up for the World Cup?!?!?!?!?!" Like clockwork.

I literally hope for that SO much, lol.

That will mean hes locked down a starting spot and has looked good doing so.

I mean they’re not a team that’s going to pay that much for someone who’s not expected to be the starter.

Sure they could be. They didnt pay that much for him. But they surely expect him to compete.

Of course he has to compete. But the 5 million they paid for him for a club like Rennes pays for a squad player. It’s not like the EPL where they spend a ton on incoming transfers.
