I'll want to see more data points of Spanish teams recruiting young guys right out of MLS before I admit its a change. ................................but Vargas playing right away for Athletico in the Copa del Rey is certainly a thing. It won't just be that clubs are buying players from MLS. They did that back with Altidore and Szetela. If they use Vargas and Freeman right away, that'll certainly be a huge advance. That they think MLS guys like that are ready to step onto their level right away. We don't bat an eyelash if they play a young guy from Argentina or Brazil right away. Hopefully they view young MLS players in that light.
Atletin owns the Ottawa CPL Club. They have scouts in N. America. They also played Seattle in the CWC, and saw Obed play in person against top competition. Then you add in the successes over the years of players either developed in MLS or that used the league as a stepping stone going abroad and succeeding: Buchanan Larin Taty McKenzie Aaronson Trusty Adams Cucho Oluwaseyi etc. This has been building for years. Then you add in MLKS teams now spending parts of their pre seasons in Marbella..... there's just a lot more data points and in person scouting opportunities for European teams. I'd even add in MLS' global; broadcast deal with Apple helping in this too. €100 got them access to every game for scouting. CFG, Red Bull and Right to Dream own teams in the league. There are more and more European, South American, etc. coaches and executives in MLS too. It just adds up to more data and
It seems like a lot of Americans are the last to see the improvement of MLS. Kind of makes sense as it's just so incremental while if you haven't seen it in say five years it's so obvious.
I think the clearest evidence is twice a year when the transfer portal comes around and guys are moving to Houston instead of Oostende.
Some time in the last week I read an article about this transfer. One anecdote in it was that when they played at the CWC, someone high up in the Sounders’ organization told Atletico brass to keep a close eye on Vargas, that he was a player they might want to acquire.
It was reported yesterday that Inter Milan are trying to get Weston McKennie in the summer. [There were reports a little while ago about McKennie signing an extension with Juve, but that was never officially announced.] Transfer rumors, news: Inter Milan target USMNT's McKennie - ESPN
Oh dear lord Tottenham have interest in pulisic move in summer. A toxic club in London who think way too highly of themselves……… where have u seen this before? Kick rock spurs now if Carricks Manchesterlona are interested …….id be interested. I’d wanna get in in on that project. And he’s I’m assuming carrick is permanent move
I don't doubt there will be lots of interest in Pulisic this summer. For whatever reason, he hasn't signed a contract extension with Milan, right?
Better to be starting in the USL Championship than sitting on the bench in MLS................... Beaudry has played significant minutes for the US at both the U17 and U20 levels. I'll add this one even though he may not fit in the rules. Bryce Duke to San Diego. He was called up to USYNTs, but never capped. He was one of the remaining free agents in MLS that we felt was going to be picked up. San Diego FC sign midfielder Bryce Duke | MLSSoccer.com Who are some free agents still available? Eryk Williamson?? Sebastian Lletget? Diego Fagundez? Kyle Duncan? Not many left of particular interest.
🇺🇸 LASK has officially signed talented USYNT forward Peyton PressonPresson, 18, was with Inter Miami academy before heading to Europe. Previously with Philadelphia Union academy too pic.twitter.com/5f8be05AKO— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) February 10, 2026
An interesting signing by the Union. They've signed former US U23 Agustin Anello. Philadelphia Union acquire forward Agustín Anello | MLSSoccer.com Philadelphia Union announced today that they have acquired forward Agustín Anello on a permanent transfer from Boston River. His contract is guaranteed through the 2028-2029 season, with an option through the 2029-2030 season. Anello will be added to the Union’s active roster following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.
Liverpool and arsenal now getting mentions for pulisic, now we are talking……. only that caliber if we are talking about a move from Milan. Arsenal id be worried about for playing time but Liverpool……. Send it
I enjoy following Christian at Milan... wouldn't mind him staying there through the rest of his prime... if he does decide to leave … he probably only has 1 major move left... would be really cool to see him at an EPL challenger like Arsenal or Liverpool.
Thats my attitude too. Milan is nice, but he has one more potential career defining move in him. If Liverpool is an option, I feel hes gotta take it.
Norwich are now up to 16th on the table. Their strikers have been firing. Sargent does not have much leverage.
Indeed. Although we can look at it the other way. Norwich doesn't need Sargent. They've been better without him. If they're not going to play Sargent the rest of the season, and keep him in purgatory, then its not like his value is going to go up. They know when the MLS transfer window closes. They'll probably hold out for the best deal from MLS (presumably TFC) as long as possible.
