Bayer 04 Leverkusen wants to strengthen themselves in the central offensive midfield with Malik Tillman from PSV Eindhoven. The 23-year-old US national player, who is currently playing in the Gold Cup, is supposed to help close the gap that the transfer of top star Florian Wirtz (22) to Liverpool FC is tearing.


The right-footed player, who was trained at FC Bayern Munich, with which Tillman would count as a local player in the Champions League for Bayer 04, is very flexible in the offensive, can play as an eight and as a ten, recently even played for the left wing for the USA.

Nottingham Forest is interested in Timothy Weah and Samuel Mbangula of Juventus. The clubs have already started contacts and the negotiation has started in full swing.

 

Tillman has a release clause it seems like. Which is supposedly around 40 million. So PSV can’t really get more than that.

Tillman can be sold for a hefty amount, according to the club management, which is above 35 million euros. That amount has only been agreed with Bayern Munich, in the form of a buy-back option. However, Bayern can only lift that option in the transfer summer of 2026.

Until then, the Germans have another right. They can match any offer from another club that PSV would like to accept. If, for example, Leverkusen would like to pay 45 million euros for Tillman this summer, PSV is obliged to offer him to Bayern for that price as well.

 

I don’t think that’s necessarily true given the reporting coming from fairly reputable sources. Florian Plettenberg who is one of the reporters saying he has a release clause is one of the more reliable reporters on German soccer.

But we will see.

Losing Wirtz, Frimpong, Tah and Xabi Alonso, I'm a bit concerned that B04 is in for a down season. However it is still early, and it looks like they're going to be ambitious with this window based on the Tillman pursuit.
