Im here for the competition, I love it. May the best player win. And given injury frequencies of Reyna, we will need that depth. Busio's set piece contributions make him a very appealing option. That and hes just a good little hungry player too

McKenzie is a great fit as a BuLi CB. He is pacy, quick, and a good 1v1 defender in space.

Stuttgart is in the UCL so there should be plenty of games to go around. With many teams going to 3CB schemes Mark will get interest from other BuLi teams down the road even if he does not set Stuttgart on fire.

There's no reason not to like Busio, or Tessman for that matter.

De la Torre himself has only been a fringe starter for the USMNT.
He's rarely started games that matter or friendlies against "good teams."

So yes, increased playing time battles in central midfield can only be a good thing.

As far as McKenzie to Suttgart goes: Don't we want our guys "reaching for the stars??"
Maybe he goes to Stuttgart and the increased competition at a higher-level leads to him raising his game.

I'd expect Tessman to move up the list before Busio. He came into Venezia with less rep but ended up the more important player and is much more in demand now. By the end of the year Tessman was a regular starter and key player while Busio more often came off the bench.

    Do you mean last season?

Busio finished the season with the most starts of any player on the team: 36 in league play and all 4 of the playoff games. Tessmann was 2nd with 35 starts in league play and 4 in the playoffs.

You're probably right, I just recall a string when Tessman was playing all the time and Busio was coming off the bench. I gotta say I don't watch much of Venezia. Might change this year now that they're in Seria A. I think this year is when we'll see what they both have.

I believe you were thinking of Venezia's first season back in Serie B, where Busio did get relegated to the bench for a spell, while Tessmann really started to emerge. But last season, Busio regained his spot as an automatic starter, and he and Tessmann became the two most relied on players for them.

Easy to mix up -- I forgot they had both been at the club for 3 years now (and in Serie B for 2 of them).

I've long held the opinion the loan at Eupen was a wasted season. Going to League One kind of confirms that

It's the risk you take when you sign for Chelsea or Man City at a young age.

I don’t think it’s too bad of a landing spot. He’s a young player and he still just needs a volume of matches.

All three are deep fringe that won't make MNT better in the foreseeable future.

Better chance for playing time at Mainz than Stuttgart.

It’s a third division team. Most of the teams there would be at the bottom of mls, where he was starting at two years ago. His career has clearly taken a step back since leaving Chicago. His team should be better than most of its competition, but that’s about the only positive. Even if he does well, who is he going to impress? A mid-level championship club?

Busio does not have that sort of engine.

When young players sign on with Chelsea or Man City (like Cavan Sullivan)..................they know the deal.

Keeper is a strange beast. There are only so many jobs.

So yes, if he has a good season at Barnsley then the next step might be the Championship. Not the end of civilization for a player his age.

Where were Friedel, Keller, and Howard playing when they were 20??

He covers a ton of ground. He’s been a 90 minute runner for years now.

It's been a slow YA transfer window so far. I believe there are only 4 USMNT players capped this cycle who have moved abroad this window (5 if you count Brenden Aaronson returning from loan to Leeds).

    A. Morris - Middlesbrough (EFL Championship)
Wiley - Chelsea (EPL) [but rumored to be loaned out to Strasbourg (Ligue 1)]
Slonina - loan to Barnsley (League One)
    P. Aaronson - loan to Utrecht (Eredivisie)

Hopefully it picks up later this month with at least a few of McKenzie, McKennie, Gio, Turner, Reynolds, Tessmann, McGuire, etc. completing rumored moves.

Not only 90 but his speed is much better now tat he's gotten older. It was a big blow to lose him in the Olympics. He and Tessman worked well together and that was over quickly.
