1814338913017950404 is not a valid tweet id

The sole source is Venezia’s sporting director who has every reason to say this, so take it with a grain of salt.

Why does the tweet say Inter Miami? I'm assuming just didn't do any content checking and meant to say Inter Milan.

FCD boys McKennie and Tessmann not taking any nonsense in Italy.

I have no problem with anything these columns are now saying about Tessmann.
If he's not happy with Inter's plan to loan him out; then he doesn't have to go for that.
The thing can fall apart, and thats fine.

Bryan Reynolds went to Roma, was loaned out.....................and was that good for his career? Meh.
Maybe his friend from FCD Tanner Tessmann took note of that.

I have no issue with a player saying "If you want to sign me, then sign me. Dont' sign me and stash me somewhere else for experience. I can gain experience with Venezia."

I agree, I never blame any of our players for maximizing their leverage or waiting for the right deal.

Now it says Inter Milan instead of Inter Miami. I reposted because the original tweet disappeared.

You can say that, but he is playing at Venezia now.

This is a typical Bepe Marotta move. He buys young players all the time and either leaves them at the clubb they are currently at for a season or two more, or he loans them somewhere else. He did this at Juventus and is employing the same strategy at Inter.

Juve has done the same thing under Marotta, Paratici and I expect will continue to do so under Giuntoli as well once he settles in.

It usually works well all the way around as the big club acquires a young talent it can watch develop, the player gets a raise that the lower level team can't match and he gets quality playing time he would not get at the bigger club, and the loanee club gets a good young player to help them compete.

For him to reject this, if that is what happens, there must be something going on at Venezia he doesn't like.

As for McKennie, he has burned his bridges. I hope he gets to go somewhere where they are playing CL football, but he may not at this point. He needs to go somewhere where he will play.

Tanner: Wes, I just burned one bridge here.
    Wes: Tanner, I did too!
Tanner: Ah? But we have many, many bridges in Venice. How many you have in Turin?
    Wes: Oops.

While I don't love the Chelsea loan army path, a loan to a Ligue 1 side that shares ownership with Chelsea is a little different than what we've typically seen from past USMNT players that have gone down that path.

For example Miazga was loaned to Vitesse, at a lower level, and then Nantes, which had no real ties to Chelsea and no strong incentive to play their loanees.

If you believe some of the recent rumors, Strasbourg cut ties with Patrick Vieira recently based in part on disagreements with the owners about prioritizing the development of Chelsea's loanees, so there will likely be much stronger incentives there.

With several groups doing these multiple team things this will become common. No reason to buy teams of various abilities if there is nothing linking their players together. We've all speculated on where Cavan will go in the City group and this is no different. It's just a more disguised version of Baseball's Majors and minors teams.

The challenge is as KALM describes.

Are these partner clubs interested in winning or being developmental teams.
Vieira was more interested in winning than being a "yes-man" for whatever Chelsea wanted.
We'll see if this is a good move for Wiley (and maybe Slonina) or not.

Man City's partner in France, Troyes, has been a unmitigated disaster.
Kept spending money and signing players, but not for the betterment of the team. Back-to-back relegations.

So forgive me for an absolutely stupid question that might have an obvious answer, but I’ve had my suspicions of the Troyes move. Is this a book balancing move by man city to get Troyes able to walk the Championnat National (French 3rd division)?

certainly been a mixed bag for them. Girona had been amazing for them. Palermo looking like a fantastic bet too. Troyes looked good initially then wow what happened. Liverpool looked like they were about to play this game and buy Bordeaux too. I’m quite surprised they didn’t. That seems like a real smart move given they’re a sleeping giant (by French standards)

Turns out you have to actually care about results in France. Its not MLSNP. You can't just play prospects at the bottom of the City Group pyramid and hope to excel.

Its like the City Group have rank-ordered their affiliates. A, A+, AA, AAA, major league.

Yes Girona, not coincidentally run by Pep's brother, have been selected as the 2nd tier.

They're behaving like Troyes is the single A team. And Strasbourg is trending in that direction. This may not be a very pleasant experience for Wiley (and maybe Slonina).

And Strasbourg fans are not happy at all with the Chelsea affiliation.
Strasbourg fans in fury as Boehly loses battle for hearts and minds | Ligue 1 | The Guardian

"All of our fears about the BlueCo project, confirmed in this transfer window,” read a banner unfurled by the home fans at the Meinau. Antagonism towards BlueCo was evident in the summer; Todd Boehly and co aren’t winning hearts and minds. “BlueCo aren’t welcome and never will be,” said Ultra Boys 90, RCSA’s largest supporters group, back in November. The statement came amid a downturn in form, however, their resentment transcends performances.

Strasbourg fans have described the current squad as “unrelatable” and even “unworthy”, with the inherited “destructive” youth recruitment policy at the centre of Les Alsaciens’ contestation. Vieira has often called for “patience” as his inexperienced players, many of whom have never played in Ligue 1, adapt to the level, as well as their new surroundings. “Trust in the process” goes the mantra, but when the process is centred on embellishing the squad of a club on the other side of the English channel, far away from picturesque canals of the Alsace region, buy-in is understandably in short supply.

I mean, minor league baseball teams exist for the explicit purpose of developing talent for their parent clubs. If they can win at the same time, that's great, but that's not really the goal. These loan situations are really fraught by comparison.

Does Chelsea technically have to release him for the Olympics, or was that baked into the contract? I imagine they would want him to play there anyway for development.

How'd he get this transfer without enough NT caps to gain a UK work permit?

He can sign with Chelsea but can't work in the UK without a UK work permit. He may qualify for a work permit in France.
