So, we can give up three goals, but if we score one, we’re still through to the semis. Edit: If they score 4 and we score 1, we’re through to the semis.
The u-17s will face germany at 4 am on Tuesday(?). They lost 3-0 to France, but the US dictated much of the game. Taha got 60 minutes. US will be without its best CB for YCA, a position that the pool is weak in. Edit: well the backup CB got a last minute red. Mexico lost 2-0 to Hondouras in the first leg of the Nations League Quarterfinal Tie. They return to Mexico for the second leg Tuesday. Canada and Jamaica play at 10:30 am today because the field was underwater last night in Kingston.
Apparently it was not unlike the full team a few nights...close and then late goals made it seem more lopsided than it was. At least the US advanced.
At Least It's Not Couva: USMNT take on Trinidad in Port Au Prince The USMNT return to the islands where it all began in 1989 and in 2017. This time they can lose 2-0 and advance. They will have to do it without Weston McKennie whi was sent back to Juve (proactively/precautionary) for right knee tendinopathy. Will Gregg go back 3 (which technical director Matt Crocker promised) or will he go with both Pepi and Balo? Stay tuned. Kickoff: 7 p.m. T.V.: TNT Track: Spotify AI randomly suggested the bridges track on my front page last time. It gave me no suggestions today.
Jedi with a diving header in the 26th. T&T need to score five to advance, so... I think we may pull this one off.
That was beyond absurd. If you told me that Sergino Dest was about to have a baby around the time of the semi, and was trying to make sure he wasn't available, I'd be tempted to believe it. Or if GGG had orchestrated a premeditated red to have his team challenge themselves by playing with 10. Because that makes a hell of a lot more sense than what actually happened. Dude just went plain loco over a throw-in call at midfield?
Oh yay...the joys of broadcasting from the Caribbean. And of course the American TV scorebug is double the size of whatever the hell that smaller one was.
Hey Siri: Show me an adult having a temper tantrum on a professional soccer field: pic.twitter.com/Ab3b7EyOQc— Stu Holden (@stuholden) November 21, 2023
Sergiño Dest is the first USMNT player with an assist and a red card in the same game since......Sergiño Dest vs Mexico in the Nations League semis earlier this year.— Paul Carr (@PaulCarr) November 21, 2023
That was one of the most foolish tantrums I have ever seen on a soccer field. Two quick yellow cards for dissent over a meaningless bad call....When your teammates have to scream at you and forcefully shove you off of the field, after you lost your cool, it's bad. Of course T&T answered Dest's meltdown with an immediate goal. There is something wrong with Dest, and our national team. Berhalter has created a strange dynamic, and our team is not playing attractive soccer. What's next?
Ah, yes, bringing Dest's tantrum back to Berhalter, because God forbid the players get held accountable. What a stupid post.
That was a terrible game to watch. We seemed completely checked out for most of the second half. I should make a Manhattan.
Somethings always been wrong with dest. Watch him with PSV, Milan, and Barca. He's not very self aware of things. He got beat badly in a champions league match and posted a highlight reel.
That was always going to be an ugly game. Bad field, bad opponent, 3-0 aggregate lead to start the damn thing... the red card probably made it more interesting than it should have been.
The Ghana game and the Germany first half were pretty good. CONCACAF is like no other. England had an outing versus Malta.
