Jozy is lazy in a USMNT uniform whether he's fit or not. I think Sargent is a better player right now and I'll take Zardes, Wood, Morris even Sapong and Wondo on effort alone. You need more than two goals from your supposedly top striker in the Hex and Jozy can't get it done anymore. We should have moved on years ago.

If I ever see Wondo in a US jersey again, I'll puke. NEVER FORGET!

This is a testament as to how thin we are at striker.
    Altidore? Lazy an injury prone.
    Sargent? Some day...
    Morris? Better on the wing.
    Zardes? Hardly.
Wood? His star has faded away to nothing.
Wondo? Done and dusted. I’m with DnD.
Boyd? Sargent’s got a better shot.
Gyau? Poop or get off the pot.
It could be a long WCQ...

At least he gives an honest effort.

We're real thin at striker and wings. We should be set up in a 3-4-2-1.

All he does is scream at people. If Zlatan did it, people would say he’s a piece of shit. Wondo does it and its a “honest effort”.

Brooks, Miazga, Zimmerman, Alvarado. Others who have played in a back three include Robinson, Yedlin, Lichaj and Ream. Cameron is still playing well for QPR.

It was a bad miss, no doubt. He's had a great MLS career so I won't call him trash. Still works harder than Jozy.

I'll readily admit I'm not a formation tactician, but wouldn't the "4" mean two defensive or linking midfielders, and two wide midfielders or "wingers", with "2" meaning two attacking midfielders? Not sure how that would line up.
We may not be deep on the wings, but it seems to me we'd be better off with a 4-2-3-1, with Morris and Boyd playing wingers; Arriola (when healthy and in good form; lately not so much) and Gyau (see Arriola) as some depth (which admittedly isn't deep).

Two wing backs, two in the center. I would go Dest-McKennie-Morales-Adams. Morales tends to stay back so McKennie could attack more.

Ah, I could see that. But then you’d want the “2” to play slightly more centrally? One would clearly be Pulisic; Jordan or Yueill as the other?

Morris or Holmes. I would have Sargent as the striker.

    Dude. You're insane.

Miazga is a mitable Championship player with little to no potential at this point.

Zimmerman... maybe, still has plenty of shaky moments with the US.

Alvarado? Ventura Alvarado? The same Ventura Alvarado who's last US cap was in October 2015?

Robinson, Yedlin, and Lichaj aren't even central defenders.

Tim Ream? Ugh, how desperate we must be. Also, Berhalter seems to play him at left back for the most part.

Geoff Cameron? He's gonna be 35 in the summer and hasn't played for the US since September 2017.

Other than Brooks, I don't like any of our CB's in a World Cup situation. How we find three I have no idea. Long, Zimmerman, and Miazga are probably near the top, but I mean that's not saying much. Would rather play 3 CM's than 3 CB's.

I'll volunteer to give an honest effort. Production is required in a production position. He's probably the greatest striker in MLS history, but not good enough for MNT.

Not his fault that he was the only late game offense insertion because Landon Donavan was home on his couch.

That would be because the coach was an arrogant asshole

Greatest in terms of longevity? I suppose. I mean, he has the record and all. Greatest in terms of quality, or even single season production (goals + assists)? Not even close.

    I'd replace Zimmerman with Dest.
