Deserved. Not a pretty goal, but Korea have been knocking on the door for long enough now...

Is Uruguay gassed or just overconfident? Was weird how loosely they were defending leading up to the equalizer.

Rain is really coming down in Port Elizabeth now! A mis-kicked or mis-played ball could make all the difference--AND THERE IT IS! Suarez puts Uruguay up 2-1.

What a curler by Suarez! Hopefully Korea can equalize and send this to extra time.

Aww. That's too bad. I really don't like this Uruguay team. Incredibly cynical.

I was complaining a few minutes ago to someone about how Suarez is a me-first kind of striker. I think he just proved why sometimes that's not a bad thing. What a strike. That will probably take the wind out of Korea.

You think? Uruguay has conceded once in four matches. It's going to be so hard to break the Uruguayans down if we can get past Ghana today.

And yeah, they're cynical. That's nothing new. I've always had a hard time liking them for that.

I'm not so sure. When Uruguay could be bothered, they've looked much better. After their first goal, it's like they just planned on bunkering for 60 minutes.

just my own opinion, its close but i think id slightly prefer Uruguay over South Korea. South Korea have been getting some good chances this game. Uruguay have had fewer chances but Suarez obviously more clinical. Im sure you could make an arguement either way. Either way this is gonna not be an easy next game assuming we advance

I don't think so. Korea can't really finish their chances. Uruguay will be a very tough matchup for the US. Definitely the best team they will have faced up to now, yes better than England. They have only given up one goal all tournament so far and have two great strikers.

Oh that was a REAL chance.... That probably costs Korea the game.

You do have to keep in mind that part of the reason they haven't conceded is that they've played South Africa and France. But yes, their defense will be tough to break down, should we be so lucky to get there. . .

I respectfully disagree. Uruguay were holding on for a 1-0, South Korea's goal came off a poor decision from the goalkeeper. They're pretty solid all over. Korea lack something up front and their defense isn't all that great either. They would be the preferred draw, but it doesn't look like it will happen. Personally, I'm not even thinking ahead to the QFs yet.

You should. Ghana are a very limited team. It would be a disapointment if the US can't beat them.

Either team would have been tough, maybe Uruguay slightly more so...no time to think about that now there is work to be done....

Too bad for South Korea, they were the more entertaining side. But the Uruguayans were better, and they await in the quarterfinals.

IF we can get our payback against Ghana today (cart before horse, that could go either way), that will be a real battle.

Off to the bar for the big game, fellas...

I'm already tired of looking past Ghana and ready to look past Uruguay.

Heh. Good thing fans don't count for anything.

In a related note, based off some various podcasts and articles I've listened to/read, Uruguay (or their fans at least) have exactly 0 respect for the US or Ghana. I think they've already bought their tickets to the semis.
