Boca's season is over, according to football.fr http://www.football.fr/cmc/scanner/...egra-forfait-contre-l-usbco_284065.html?popup If any French speaker can provide a translation... (Google translate told me it's because he's "always complaining of abdominal pain.") Apparently, he'll be in Zurich on Friday as part of a five-person delegation to present the USA's official bid book for the 2018 or 2022 World Cup, according to US Soccer.
It's been too long, but I think tojours in this case implies "still" rather than "always"...? Something like "According to the official site of the Rennes club, Carlos Bocanegra, the american left back will not participate in the last match of the brettonese? club against Boulogne-sur-Mer for the 38th and last game day of Ligue 1. The defender is still compalining of abdominal discomfort and will not be making the trip north(?). Club Rennais sits at 9th place in the championship and has nothing more to play for." ... my french teacher, forgive me
i don't speak french, but here's using the french-to-english translator According to the official site of the club rennais, Carlos Bocanegra, the lateral American left, will not participate in the last encounter of the Breton team against Boulogne-sur-Mer at the time of the 38E and last day of League 1. The defender always complains pains to the abdominal ones and will not be trip in the North. The Stadium Rennais not at all currently to the 9E places championship and no longer has nothing to play. So, who are four center backs at this moment? Goodson, Onyewu, DeMerit, and Bocanegra are all hurt. if i see Jonathan Bornstein at CB again, i will kill Bob
Gooch isn't hurt, he's been training for a month now. Goodson had a slight injury that he said would keep him out of one game at most. Demerit's injury is also minor. The only one we don't know the full extent of is Boca, and even then it doesn't sound too serious. Calm down, the sky isn't falling.
From six months ago, I would say the sky has lifted!! We had a big red swath of no-shows across the field, in first team options and subs. Most of them are back, and more are rehabbing. Now if only they could get some game time... I'd like to see Gooch on loan to... maybe Houston for the rest of the season, just to get him in some games. The rest of the guys who haven't been playing regularly could use a little first-team action, too.
New Update.... I deleted players that did not make the 30 for camp. New updates in green are positive New updates in red are negative Out - Long rehab - Injured EJ - carried off the pitch, appears to be a Hamstring Injury. Minor injurys Demerit - injury appears to be minor (out for another week or so) Bocanagra - did not play and is suffering with abdominal pain Training with full team Davies - was not cleared to be fit by his club Gooch - traveled with team, but did not make the game day roster No longer injured Ching - made the bench yesterday (5/9), but did not play Holden - subbed on for the last 24 minutes (5/10) Goodson - is fine (he missed one game) and he went 90 (5/10) Dempsey - Hand thingy (stills plays with team) Edu - played in a match (5/1) Benny - back playing with full team (ankle) Bradley - back playing with full team (broken nose) Howard - out briefly with thigh injury (not sure if he missed a game?) Beasley - back with full team (thigh/hamstring) Clark - back with full team (calf strain)
opps... FYP CD is the longest of longshots, but ... he might yet be cleared to play and he could be added as late as 24 hours before the match v. England (BB is not restricted to the list of 30 at that point). Mostly, I would like to follow Davies' progress and see no reason not to do so here. This thread will die a natural death very soon, anyway. While I'm here, what more do we know about Demerit and Bocanegra?
And now Sochaux says, "Our season is ending May, 15. Whatever Bob is doing with Davies has nothing to do with us. Our season resumes July, 24". Let's see the US journalists go after truth on this because someone is lying. And Charlie better not keep his mouth shut or he deserves this omission.
july 24 might well be a realistic time line for davies... more than 2 more months to rehab and get into decent soccer playing shape.. we'd have to observe davies presently to know exactly where he stands... those slosest, meaning sochaux, say it ain't so... BB isn't the sort to dramatically add davies the evening before... and ej's play on sunday will answer his health question
I hope you are correct about the natural death of this thread - but it seems to be that there are always at least a couple injuries during camps for the USMNT. These injuries, if they occur, could determine the squad more than any other remaining factor.
It happens every cycle. In 02 it was Armas going down (which led to the inclusion of Mastroeni............who ended up playing a pivotal role). In 06 it was Gibbs and Hejduk.....if I remember correctly. There are twists and turns yet to come. By the way.......Armas is the answer to a trivia question as a result of that injury. Which player had the most caps with the USMNT, without ever going to a World Cup?
Is this true? Odds of this happening = not very good at all. However, the world is a funny place and the communication between various parties on this issue has been nothing short of puzzling...
I meant June, 24 - the date players must report for their medical at Sochaux's HQ. It's on their own site. Jeff Carlisle has a decent article about it on Soccernet. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-...s/end-only-davies-says-healthy?cc=5901&ver=us The problem with his logistics claim is that Sochaux has publicly renounced its role and would be unlikely to contend the release based on the medical grounds. So, by the look of it, they bluffed and Bob fell for it. World Series of Poker this is not.
Bocanegra ready for World Cup after injury scare http://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/news?slug=ap-wcup-us-bocanegra
There really is the opportunity for a well-researched story in here, but I never know we're going to see it.
