Imagine your boss gives you 3 weeks off in August every year for 10 years. Then your department gets merged into another department and you ask for the usual 3 weeks off in August. The new boss says now. You say "well my old boss..." and the new boss says "sucks to be you!". This actually happened to a friend of mine. After much complaining to his colleagues he took 2 weeks.
Ok, but this makes no sense to me because the NL games were during (and no longer than) a regular international window where the clubs had to release the players anyway. Had we just played two friendlies that week, we could have called and demanded all players.

DR was good again. This may be a national team on the rise relative to our crappy confederation anyway.
It's too bad Suriname have to put the ball in the net for points. They look smooth and effective playing through midfield against Mexico. CONCACAF investigating Marsch and Canada. Already tilting the field toward Mexico.
Miami, FL – Concacaf has initiated disciplinary proceedings to investigate the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) and its head coach, Jesse Marsch, for incidents that occurred during the 2025 Gold Cup match between Canada and Honduras on June 17, 2025. The Disciplinary Committee will review all available evidence, including official reports detailing that the CSA and its head coach disregarded regulations applicable to suspended match officials and used offensive language toward Concacaf match officials Mr. Marsch is currently serving a two-match suspension imposed by the Disciplinary Committee following incidents that took place during the 2025 Concacaf Nations League Finals. Additional information regarding these proceedings will be provided in due course. Concacaf Statement: Disciplinary investigation into the CSA and Jesse Marsch following Gold Cup incidents
Yeah, I've been saying this for a couple years. They have a big population (11 million) compared to other non-US/Mexico/Canada CONCACAF countries, and they have a pretty big diaspora in the US (looks like 2 million+ according to estimates I googled real quick), so they'll have a fair number of kids in MLS academies. I know baseball is their big sport, but if some of those kids start drifting towards soccer, there's no reason they can't get to the level of teams like Panama and Costa Rica.
What did Marsch do now? I don't even think this is a helping Mexico thing, I believe Marsch probably did whatever they say he did. The dude is unhinged.
"disregarded regulations applicable to suspended match officials and used offensive language toward CONCACAF match officials".
If you listen to some, he wasn't actual struggling before now.... 🗣️ Malik Tillman on his form with the USMNT:"I’ve been struggling a lot for the U.S. team, so for me, it’s about showing the real me. Showing the people here what I can do. Because I know I have a lot of qualities and I know I’m a good player, but I haven’t shown it for this… pic.twitter.com/AsTShn7GG2— USMNT Otaku 🇺🇸 (@USMNTOtaku) June 19, 2025 Big tourney for him one way or another. Off to a good start.
Who has been saying that he hasn't been struggling? People have been saying to stay patient, but there haven't been many who have said that he's been playing well for the US.
They shouldn't take any chances w/ Haji's strained? achilles. As for replacements pre KO stage, we don't need a 4 FW. We could use a ball-progressing 10/wing like Guti, or another DM (Morris, Tessmann). No DM replaced Zawadzki.
I don't think anyone has been saying he's been playing all that well. But I have definitely seen people push back on posters who have characterized Tillman's play for the USMNT so far in much the same way that Tillman just did ("struggling a lot for the US"). Edit: Actually, I might have to walk that back slightly because I'm going largely off memory. And just looking through some old threads now, some of the takes I'm seeing that got the most pushback were so over-the-top negative about his USMNT play and the implications of that for his place in the team that the pushback seems understandable to me.
CONCACAF needs both competitions, because thats in the best interests of most of CONCACAF. Dropping one or the other wouldn't hurt the USA or MX and maybe Canada, but it would create serious problems for pretty much everyone else. The loss of Nations League means far less consistent match experience for them, and the loss of the Gold Cup means the loss of what for most is the most significant tournament experience they will have access to (they're not automatic WC qualifiers like USA/MX). The upside to this is pretty limited - the only real winners are USMNT/MX fans who want to see bigger friendlies against bigger sides or just get annoyed watching B-teams in Gold Cups playing regional rivals they don't care about. That's just not enough given how high the cost is for everyone else.
I noticed all my post in this thread got deleted. Did I say something inappropriate? I also noticed that the original post I commented on is of course still there.
