Man o man... we have no back up for Adams at all. Yikes. Nice to hear Richards is back running full speed. I expect him to start and play well.

The Richards news is good, obviously, but the Adams news makes me nervous. It feels like he is not 100% and is trying to play through something. That makes it more likely he won't be at his most effective or will get injured at some point during the tournament, both of which spell big trouble.

It's Monday. Adams has 4 full days to be ready. I would bet he's going to be fine.

My reading between the lines is that Adams has something that he can play through but needs surgery/extensive rest and rehab to truly fix, e.g., a slightly torn meniscus, and is putting that off till after the tournament. Not something that can definitively heal in the next few days.

    But I hope I'm wrong.

True but it also be why many are saying Adams isn't as good as he used to be. He's got at least a niggle and isn't 100% fit. If he can improve as the tournament progresses back to 22 Adams that makes us a lot better as does the Richards news.

Not worried about Tyler Adams at all, and its smart with "load management" because everyone knows we are going to run him into the ground. So.......best to keep it light with him.

The latest from the Athletic - the same picture but with additional details …

    Richards - no restrictions

IRVINE, Calif. — “The U.S. men’s national team received a boost on Monday as key center back Chris Richards trained in full with no restrictions for the first time since the team started its pre-World Cup training camp two weeks ago.”

    ARob - full training

“In an additional dose of positive news, left back Antonee Robinson was also in full training after being substituted in Saturday’s loss to Germany with what was deemed as cramps. Robinson scored a spectacular goal against the Germans but then had to be taken off.”

    Adams - load management

“Midfielder Tyler Adams, for at least the second time during this pre-World Cup camp, did not train due to what a team spokesman described as “load management.” He played in both of the USMNT’s pre-tournament friendlies, and neither he nor U.S. staff has mentioned any specific fitness concern.

But when U.S. players took the field at Great Park’s Championship Soccer Stadium, Adams was in sneakers and stayed back in a treatment area set up on the stadium’s second-level concourse.

When the team huddled at midfield to open training, Adams jogged down to be with them, and briefly passed a ball back and forth with a member of head coach Mauricio Pochettino’s staff. But then he walked back up to the treatment area, where he watched part of training from a treatment table and worked with a member of the team’s performance staff for around 30 minutes.”

At this point… we have to assume Adams is ok. Would they have played him if he was injured? I believe Richards would have played last week’s matches if it they were Group Stage matches. Coaches always bird dog others with injury situations. If not outright lie. We have to trust the coach, till the WC is over. Then we can all wave as he departs for his new team.

If it turns out we're starting Roldan in a must win game, because we only have Seb and Roldan as back-ups, I'm going to absolutely lose it.

I might have blinders on, but how we don't have Tessman or Morris as back-ups will continue to rankle me until I'm proven wrong.

I think the assessment that he likely has one of those lingering injuries that everyone plays through seems likely.

He's clearly going to play, and I don't think we know if it can ever really get worse. But obviously, there's something where he's better off with resting and treatment on some days than always practicing.

I think were this in a club context, it would not necessarily be worth mentioning.

The reason he did not train was due to "load management". This is basically code for "healthy but just resting". My hunch is that, like 2022, the expectation is that Adams will play every meaningful minute possible, and they want to make sure he is at 100% stamina level.

Tyler was putting in some good games for Bournemouth in the last few months, so the form is there to come back out. Maybe they’ve just realized he can only take so much until something goes sideways in his body, and they are keeping him below that threshold. That really would be load management, which I take as truthful versus hiding some ongoing injury.

How is Jedi? we should have taken Morris instead of roldan. We have more than the MLS quota.

Asking a question that was already answered on this page AND dropping an "MLS quota?" Performance art at its finest! Chef's kiss!
