Dest is expected to play again this season Bij PSV wordt Dest nog voor het einde van het seizoen terug verwacht, zegt Bosz. ,,Het gaat goed met zijn revalidatie."— Rik Elfrink (@RikElfrink) April 10, 2026
PSV seems pretty good at that and why not with talented backups. With 1st clinched there's zero reason to rush (except for Dest trying to get fit for WC)
He was always a longshot but Tolkin left the field in tears yesterday. https://www.kn-online.de/sport/regi..._source=app_android&utm_campaign=share_button
Apparent knee injury. We'll hear about the severity. Holstein Kiel, by the way, is in the relegation fight from Bund2. That includes half the league as the bottom half of the table is really tight.
To emphasize that, Julian Green is on the bench for Greuter Fürth who could end up anywhere from =11th with Kiel to rock bottom 18th, depending on this weekend's results.
Happy to report that Tyler Adams came off the bench at 70' and played 25' to help Bournemouth defeat Arsenal.
We also have reports that Johnny will be in the Atletico squad tomorrow and available to play against Barcelona in the Champions League. He hasn't played in a match since ours v Belgium (March 28).
Tolkin's injury was the knee. US defender John Tolkin out injured for the 'coming weeks' ahead of World Cup | AP News Holstein Kiel said Tolkin injured the medial collateral ligament in a second-division game against Fortuna Duesseldorf on Friday and was “being treated conservatively.”
That sucks for our depth options and really sucks for him. Tolkin wasn't in direct contention for a spot, but was only one (or perhaps 2) injuries from the WC squad.
As noted in several threads elsewhere, Jonathan Klinsmann suffered a season-ending spinal injury over the weekend and will not be available for the World Cup (even as an alternate). Sounds as though he's doing better than many feared at first (when we heard he had a broken neck). Get well soon!
Hooooly shit. I wasn't paying attention this weekend. That's a really scary thing to read. I'm glad you followed it up with "he doesn't have a broken neck".
A broken neck is one or more broken spine (vertebrae) in the neck area. Hopefully the spinal cord isn't damaged beyond repair The broken neck Christopher Reeve suffered shattered his top two vertebrae, completely disconnecting his skull from his spine. Goalkeeper Bert Trautman played on after breaking neck in the early stages of the 1956(?) FA Cup Final. So the are different levels of trauma when people refer to a broken neck.
@Pegasus is reporting that Dest has returned to training. With PSV coasting to the finish line, and just three matches left, Dest should probably focus on staying healthy.
Yes, but ... I'm not sure how much a few minutes in PSV's final three matches will get Dest match-fit for June. Dest will want to play for PSV, and certainly won't refuse to play, but full recovery is paramount. If he plays a half v Senegal (May 31) and 60' v Germany (June 6), plus fitness/conditioning exercises, he'll be fine for Paraguay (June 12). Let's work him back in gradually, thanks,
PSV doesn't seem to rush their players back from what I've seen. He did look like himself in that clip so that's encouraging. PSV may also have next season in mind and play someone who they think will be there. Pretty sure Dest wants a move.
Johnny Cardoso has been diagnosed with a high-grade ankle sprain after leaving Atletico Madrid’s training session on Thursday. #USMNThttps://t.co/vc8vqJeL5W— SBI Soccer (@SBISoccer) May 7, 2026 If it’s a high ankle sprain I think his World Cup may be at risk.
