So wait...... I thought Pro/Rel was Merit over Money? 1860 Munich is being relegated because their shareholder didn't want to pay for the playing license???? And they become insolvent if their shareholder doesn't pay for the license for the regionalliga?

    They finished 8/20.
It's over a $3.6 million shortfall in funding.
They need $1.35 million to play the the RegionalLiga.

Their bigger shareholder owns 60% of the club, fans 40%.

I'm sad for the fans but interested to see that the German system isn't as forgiving as the English one, where they could file for administration, take a points deduction and re-emerge under new ownership.

I just hope the Hounds are the first to be relegated so I can experience the magic first hand.

Total transfer ban including loans and free agents, 9 players having departed since last season, temporary rented stadium with the lease running out, $25 million cash injection required to bring them into line with FFP, currently losing $20 million a year (all numbers approximate)

Is there another Ryan Reynolds out there?

Record numbers of "non-League" English clubs are defuncting or self-relegating.

1,907 at Brooklyn, 1,249 at Miami, 1,193 at Jax and 1,100 at Loudoun.

What happens when the "big" Eastern Conference clubs move up to the Premier League?

That was probably Bob Williams' greatest hit, though he had a number of other incredibly dumb things.

I wonder how many of the current “USL is way more authentic than MLS” fans know that ten years ago all the hip kids were saying that about NASL and thought USL was just as lame as MLS.

Self-awareness and internal consistency are not prawns' strong suits.

And a lot of them have jumped on board since then, to be fair.

Some yayhoo on one of the social sites happened on the Louisville/Tampa Bay match from last week and posted that it was the greatest soccer match in US history. As if US history started in July.

I remember when Detroit City was still in the NPSL I saw a claim one of their games was the most consequential club match ever played in the U.S. And how their game day experience was indistinguishable from a Liverpool match in the 80s. :ROFLMAO:

What happens to USL Premier if Larry Berg announces that Sacramento, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Indianapolis, Detroit and Pittsburgh are MLS expansion targets?

I don't foresee that happening. USL development is actually good for MLS in the long-term.

The cost of these things has to become an impediment at some point, doesn't it?

I wonder how they're going the Weatherford Capital investment. Is it solely to get stadium deals across the line?

We're less than 18 months out from USL Premier launching. Since USL's new Private Equity owners pushed Justin papadakis entirely out, and then moved Alec Papadakis to the board level and out of the day to day running and decision making for USL, there's been zero news.

Oakland Roots don't currently have stadium to play in in 2027. Las Vegas doesn't either. NCFC has been radio silent for a few years now too. Previously announced expansion cities are no closer to playing today than when they were announced in Milwaukee, Buffalo, and Santa Barbara.

Maybe USL is doing a ton of work behind the scenes? Maybe Bell Towers busted open USL's books and did a deep dive, and didn't like what they saw?

They committed to launching in 2028. Delaying that start would make an already monumental task that much more difficult in terms of getting buy in from potential, investors, broadcast partners and sponsors.

I think it's still technically owned by NuRock isn't it but nothing gets done without Weathered Bell Pepper's say so.

I wonder if Tony Scholes will run back across the Atlantic with his tail between his legs when he realizes the scale of the task, like Matt Crocker did at US Soccer.

They're both monumental jobs with a lot of questions and challenges that to be solved for.

Pittsburgh doesn't have an approved plan yet, nevermind shovels in the ground. Getting that type of project completed in 18 months is very ambitious. Is Sacramento's stadium going to be ready by next year? Will they even still be in USL in 2028?
