================== The KEY phrase out of all of this is to "work together. You have an exisiting team with a history and an owner and a piece of land The other investors, the city , the mayor should shut up and step up and get this deal done. Soccer is not the NFL, competing bids hurt in this situation- merge forces an reduce some exposure for everyone. If they have a stadium done by 2026, they almost for sure would be next in line. Get it done.
All was fine until Indy Eleven's owners asked for an additional $243 million in TIF (tax increment financing) to finance the public parking garages that were part of the proposal to build to provide the revenue to cover the stadium subsidy. "You know that revenue generating investment we offered you? We just need you to pay for it." The mayor seems to have smelled a rat. The other potential development isn't dependent on a single investor.
Up to 20 USL Championship games on TUDN in 2024 They've already picked 11, plus the championship, to air.
The USL "Summer of Soccer" has begun tonight. 15 games between USLC and USL1 between July 3 and August 14 on CBS, CBSSN, and ESPN2. https://www.uslleagueone.com/news_article/show/1313161
Biden steps aside and here's what the networks are showing: ABC - Infomercials NBC - Nascar Fox - NHRA CBS - Talking head politics while kicking the CBS broadcast of Oakland vs Sacramento off TV completely and over to their app. USL execs should be furious right now.
============= They are at least being kicked off for something kind of important- the Presidency of the United States. No? MLS used to get kicked off and late starts due to basketball, baseball, tractor pulls, arm wrestling, bass fishing etc....
None of the other networks went to it because nobody really cares. There was nothing worth talking about for 2 hours because it was expected and the worst case was once the soccer game was over CBS stopped covering it and started showing an infomercial.
https://www.uslleagueone.com/news_article/show/1314653 South Georgia Tormenta becomes the first USL League One team to sell a player as an international transfer. Nick Akoto transfers to EFL League One side Burton Albion. The fee is confidential but is confirmed to be the highest for any USL1 team to date.
Monterey Bay fires Frank Yallop and assistant Ramiro Corrales. 2.5 years in, currently in the 8th spot in the West, and they fire Yallop and his top assistant when they're on pace to make the USLC playoffs for the first time.
For all the limitations of Keyworth Stadium, it sure does look good filled up on TV. Detroit and Rhode Island both have excellent kits and the CBS broadcast looks great.
Frank Yallop had a stroke last year and he came back somewhat healthy but not sure how he is doing, health wise now. I know his wife is a real estate agent in Los Gatos which is a ritzy area of Silicon Valley so not sure if he really needs the money or the stress of a coaching job. I heard he was interviewing with the Quakes around 2017-2018 for some sort of consulting job but I don't think the new GM at the time, Jesse Fioranelli wanted to bring him back as he had already been let go a few years earlier.

Watched Detroit at Birmingham last night. 3/4ths of stadium empty, official attendance was 4100... No way. These attendance numbers are b.s. Game was rubbish
The stadium in Birmingham holds 47,100. If it was 3/4th empty it would have been an attendance of 11,775. Birmingham opens up 20,000 seats, so even then 3/4th empty is 5,000. If you're going to be a troll, 361 posts 120 reps, at least be one that's entertaining.
--------------------- My question is why they moved into such a large stadium? Sure, play there on big events- Playoffs, US Open Cup, friendlies, 4th of July etc. Play the majority and especially non-Saturday games at a smaller venue (?) Why couldn't they have stayed at UAB?
------------ Just like MLS early days of playing in too large a stadium Other USL-C & USL-1 teams doing a good job of building their own SSS, maybe the Legion one day
They must have a really good deal. They do decently well in attendance, and they've made the playoffs every year of their existence (down a big chunk this year), so something's working out with the current location. They just opened a training facility last week so maybe they're working on a stadium next? https://www.bhmlegion.com/news/2024/08/15/legion-fc-opens-new-training-facility/
--------- Very good to see a 2nd division team getting a training center! Love the logo and the name- one of the better ones I guess also if we believe USL-C is "professional", the Legion is the only professional sports franchise in the city, other than the XFL/UFL or whatever league that football is.
