Jacksonville was just announced on Tuesday. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ne...-womens-teams-in-jacksonville/?outputType=amp
Hard to keep up with USL- C. sometimes ! So with the league going down 4 as the last MLS-2 teams leave, USL-C seems to keep coming up with a steady stream of replacements. Quite amazing actually. Des Moines, Queensboro, Rhode Island, New Orleans, Jacksonville are just the ones off the top of my head. Who else follows will be interesting.
------------------------- Been a LONG time since a top outdoor league in Cleveland Possible owners ? Where to play?
What will they call the team? Cleveland Stokers Cleveland Internationals Cleveland Force Cleveland Crunch
---------------------- So if getting a women's team also, then it would be really nice for a suitable stadium either current, current modified or eventually new. Assume Browns/NFL way too large, ground share with MLB is probably a no go. - If they go USL-C, closest rivals would be Pittsburgh, Detroit, Indy., Lou City... Not bad. Not as many close teams in USL-1 until that league expands a bit more.
They will be building their own stadium. Might be near a new Browns stadium if they move off the Lakefront.
USL-1's off the table. USL only interested in Cleveland for the Championship. Akron's more the size of their ideal League 1 city.
Have to believe the ladies' side will be NWSL. The "European" schedule the Super League is planning to play is likely to be a disaster here, both in terms of going up against football/Cavs and the weather.
I think ive got my personal Google Map all updated with all confirmed lower league expansion teams. Soccer in America is getting crowded, y'all. (you should be able to copy/download or request edits) Google Map of all existing & expansion teams in North America https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1T6vIpv2wzLTGJVKFWnMgUp8uW7oPbDuq&usp=sharing https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1T6vIpv2wzLTGJVKFWnMgUp8uW7oPbDuq&usp=sharing
Yep. It's public now. I looked and there's only five major league (at least one "Big Four" team) markets without a current or confirmed expansion team in either MLS or a USL pro division - Cleveland - Baltimore - Milwaukee - Buffalo - Green Bay and Baltimore and Milwaukee have an MASL team.
The IT admins here have google maps blocked for some reason if I'm not using Chrome, so it was fine once I copied it over.
---------------- The Browns are talking of moving off the lake? That stadium is not even that old and has to miles ahead of what old Municipal Stadium was. What is the chances of the city or state "helping" them on that, or are they on their own. Assuming that, why then would soccer what to go lakefront? Is that the most logical place to put something? No downtown options? Assume land would be better in the burbs, but will people travel out there for soccer? Whats the local take?
Browns want to renovate the current stadium, but the new mayor wants to totally redevelop the lakefront. Talk is of a new Browns stadium and the soccer stadium next to each other in an extension of the Gateway district (Progressive Field and Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse) south of the Innerbelt.
Can anyone speak to what is going on with this program ? Stadium? USL ? it has been so quite for quite a while... it was exciting to see the interest and movement and now , pretty quite...anyone?
