If they are just breaking ground now, that seems like a really tight schedule to play in next season.
sacramento's yard went up in 90 days back in 2014. they didn't break ground until march and played there in june.
The Spokesman-Review The USL Spokane franchise sold over 500 season ticket deposits in the first 24 hours, which team president Cindy Wendle said was the fastest response in league history. https://www.spokesman.com/.../usl-spokane-sets-league.../
20? No seriously that doesn't seem like it would be record. There have been some really successful USL team launches. I never trust teams to make such claims. Just follow those dopes at Austin FC, they make absurd - very clearly lies - claims all the time.
Portland, Maine USL One maybe in 2024? https://www.pressherald.com/2022/01...o3JONLt7aCPDeCD-5GnnaPOxOd51PHlnIl_yHg4D9ZQ2s
rereading this thread-- what are 2023 expansion teams, there was a pretty clear, or detailed 2022 and this has 2024 mentioned. 2023 ?
The USL-C expectation for 2023 is Queensboro joining and OKC rejoining with their stadium upgraded. USL-1 should be getting Ft. Wayne, Lexington, and Spokane. Some might get pushed back to 2024, but right now I don't think there's an official 2024 announcement anywhere.
The Cleveland Force group is entering USL in League Two. Hopefully, the Championship team materializes sometime this decade: https://www.uslleaguetwo.com/news_article/show/1204144
https://soccerstadiumdigest.com/202...e-sports-league-with-real-estate-development/ Justin Papadakis had an article come out 2 days ago-- and there is no mention of Q based on the article from Soccer Stadium Digest.....https://soccerstadiumdigest.com/202...e-sports-league-with-real-estate-development/ where is OKC and Queensboro FC in the conversation?
Here's the Queensboro stuff. They're building on the campus of CUNY. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...iming-to-represent-an-area-with-130-languages OKC plays at a stadium owned by the public school system there, and they're the ones upgrading the stadium so OKC doesn't have a place to play this year. https://www.energyfc.com/news_article/show/1196933
------ Not too worried about QFC as they have been in the process for the last couple years and its a sectional stadium like Phoenix so should be done in time I am mostly upset with OKC taking a year off while the district works on the stadium. That stadium hasn't even been running that long since it opened from the first rebuild. I can't believe OKC could not have found a place to play for a year to keep soccer in the public eye and not upset your player pool etc. You are almost now starting over. Bet you they could have maybe made a deal with the AAA baseball team like many other USL teams or find a local college or another decent high school field to play. Just seems all weird. Especially if you are trying to be towards having your own SSS built downtown- seems you would want to have stayed in business in the public eye to continue the support needed to get the new place built.
Looking back at the thread and interested on a circle back on some of these expansion teams and stadiums. Any new updates coming from the league?
It looks like OKC is on pace to be back next season with the Queens team joining. The former Austin team is now expected to play in Ft. Worth starting in 2024 and the Iowa expansion team is expected in 2025.
------------- And don't we have Rhode Island also? I think they were clearing the site last I saw pictures, so they actually seemed further along than Des Moines, unless Rhode Island is going USL-1 rather than USL-C ?
The team in Pawtucket is aimed for USL-C but their stadium funding is going through changes. https://www.providencejournal.com/s...ommerce-corporation-vote-more-aid/7621741001/ The government money was supposed to go the entire complex including the retail, residential, and commercial parts. The developer and Mayor are trying to make sure they get the stadium done first. We'll see what the Board or the state does.
Like newtex said, Rhode Island is having stadium funding issues so they're not projected for any specific time yet. For USL1 there's still the expectation of Fort Wayne, Lexington, and Spokane coming in next season, and Lexington is trying to get a future stadium build approved. Wilmington, NC is expected in either 2024 or 2025 at that level but nothing has been said other than they're expected to have a team.
-------- Lexington and Spokane are on the USL-1 website, so have to assume a go. I hope DMB's project at Fort Wayne comes to be- I worry about finances It would be cool to see the Hammerheads back in Wilmington- plenty of local rivals=.Richmond, Raleigh, Charlotte, Greenville, Chattanooga and Tormenta. I also really feel this is where Charleston Battery belong and would love to see Jacksonville back and maybe in this league.
Protagonist Soccer @ProtagonistUSA 3h We're hearing credible rumors that tomorrow @USLChampionship will announce an expansion side in New Orleans.
I get the feeling that Cleveland is going to be soccer's equivalent to Houston in hockey (major league market with no pro team at any level).
