Greenville SC has just been announced as the third founding franchise. USL Division III unveils @GvilleProSoccer as the third founding member of the new professional league set to begin play in 2019.#USLD3 | #ProSocc3rhttps://t.co/dt9Mqd8SRH— USL League One (@USLLeagueOne) March 13, 2018 The first two were Tormenta FC (metro Savannah, GA) and FC Tucson. Heavy rumors surround El Paso, Albuquerque, Fort Myers FL, and Lakeland FL, as well as a multitude of other cities, with foci in the southeast and midwest.
Midwest? Do you mean southwest. But El Paso has already been announced as USL, not a USL-D3 team. https://www.uslsoccer.com/news_article/show/891979?referrer_id=4005652 Albuquerque is also likely to be a USL expansion team for 2019. https://www.soctakes.com/2017/12/20/breaking-albuquerque-join-usl-2019/
I already mentioned Albuquerque and El Paso. When I say that, I’m referencing a tour of the Midwest taken by USL executives in 2017 that ended in Des Moines. That was referring to rumors, not the confirmed cities, or even unconfirmed markets with more empirical evidence that a team is coming.
Kind of surprised Chattanooga isn't more psyched at the prospect of joining USLD3. Seems like it would be a perfect fit but something about USL seems to have been off-putting to the folks in Chattanooga.
