Good team play in the build-up. Notably Pepi's contribution to the goal was something you'd expect to see from a center forward rather than a winger. Hmm, do we have a realistic lineup with a pair of strikers?
Pulisic's time at Chelsea taught him that you need to show out while the interim Manager is care taking... the next coach is watching
And done absolutely nothing with it. He is runs and runs and does some skillful things and the proceeds to do something to screw things up.
At least he's not making bad mistakes and energy is where it needs to be. More than can be said of many US players over this window. I agree he hasn't had a ton to do, but he's passed the test that he has taken. That's all he can do. But I do agree, a claim that he "owned" that flank... not exactly saying all that much.
I had no idea he was Kiwi eligable. He would have been a squad staple. This is why picking national teams is not so easy. People absolutely regret it.
This is my biggest take away from this game. There wasn't anyone or anything that happened out there that wasn't everything we already know other than Fossey's performance. He appears to have a good balance of offensive and defensive capabilities and is always passing and moving. As someone who hated mindlessly running around on defense, he would be a nightmare for me to play against.
Had 5 friendly caps with them! Side note: kinda funny that both pro football Tyler Boyds play in Nashville
Its "only new zealand" but yeah, Fossey is the big winner today. When we are talking about bringing in hungry guys with something to prove........Fossey is putting out tape.
Meh, American announcers breathlessly shouting every touch and pass of the ball is irritating. I prefer the way matches are announced by other announcers, but YMMV.
It's 1 home friendly against a team ranked 70th in the world & he was merely solid if unspectacular. I don't think depth charts should work that way, cuz we're not going to play comparable games that matter. He needed to play v. Canada.
Old habits die hard. It has been over 5 years of Beerholder ball. Gregg never had any ideas for breaking down defenses and scoring goals or attacking, in general. For Gregg, it was always about shape and high press and trying to make the other team cough up the ball. This is why he got fired from HAmmarby and never won anything with the Crew.
yup........this was a pat on the back friendly. Canada was the one that was serious. We failed the test, but hey.........Poch is being given a clean slate. We NEED a manager of that gravity to sort this out. I will be holding all criticisms of him while he sorts the situation out. He probably knows what hes doing.
