And, frustratingly, it gets worse with the backups. You'd like your less talented players to at least have guts.

Don’t think we’ve been great but missing a ton of players and it was always going to take Pochettino time to get things going.

Sounds like Lund and Zendejas coming on.

I might have brought on Tessmann for Morris and Vazquez for Sargent.

He’s been ok but not influential. I like the defense and the work but it’s become plainly obvious that his size and decent feet allow him to feast in a very mediocre Eredivisie. He is not a special player. Not even remotely close to Reyna in talent.

I like his work rate though.

Maybe Berhalter took the energy to play against Mexico with him.

Honestly, as it stands thus far do we see ourselves getting ANY shots on goal?

    I don’t see it.

It can take time for guys to adjust internationally. I always try to remember it took Jedi awhile to really get going and there were alot of games where he was fairly meh until he locked things down in qualifying.

Very young, and a very different path in their soccer lives than previous generations.

the defense hasnt been good, but the midfield and forwards have been utterly absent. i dare anyone to defend any of their play in that half.

have we gotten a shot off at all?

Player minutes management in the former case, clearly. But I hate it. I absolutely hate it. Managing minutes in Mexico when most of the rest of our team is B and C caliber and we're behind a goal (but the game isn't exactly over, either) is just.... frustrating.

Luckily both are, and covered for a lot of their team's mistakes today. Can't fix them all.

Right now, he's ironically trying to dribble everyone. His best attribute is his quick passing!

But yeah, that's the sign of someone used to having his way easily.

Yes. Jedi was clearly worse for the US than his club for a while.

But he was always a higher-caliber player than Tillman. Tillman has impressed as mainly an attacker on the best side of a league that doesn't play defense. He hasn't overcome much adversity on the pitch.

Drawing level with these guys will be a miracle given we are missing the front 6 players on the field.

I assume Pochettino’s halftime speech is “honeymoon is over. Here’s what I’m really like.

Look forward to seeing the changes in the second half

I can’t take you seriously if you think Jedi’s been bad. I don’t know what you actually get out of this watching soccer thing if that’s your conclusion.

Also, for everyone who never wants to build out of the back, please take a gander at our duel win rate off these long balls. It's brutal, and a big reason why have basically given away the ball endlessly.

Of course, we're not building out of the back well, but when you boot it long this much, even decent teams shut you down a huge % of the time. Maybe with Balo or Pulisic or Weah, the few times we'd get through would yield something, but this is not exactly a great attacking line.

Woof. Not impressive. From anyone really. Tillman almost had a couple nice moments. And we were pretty good the first 10 minutes.

Crazy to see the same issues in this one that we saw against Panama. Pretty consistently 2nd to the ball and when we do get there the touches border on the horrendous. Hearing praise for Aaronson at the half made me laugh... the dude is constantly falling over whenever someone bodies him.... the refs know it... so then they let the opponents get away with borderline to blatant fouls. What's worse is the inability of Aaronson to hit some very easy passes in crucial situations. We really only had one play where we had the chance to apply pressure w/ numbers and Aaronson missed a basic 5 yard pass. Brutal. So frustrating. AAR.... this lineup is clearly filled with roll players and w/o a few playmakers I wonder how they could possibly score.?.? 1) Mistake by Mexico in the back or 2) The players come out aggressive and finish their tackles.

Tillman hasn't started both these matches. More importantly, I can't think of a way to disparage him with a literary device.
