that looked like a USL match, what a joke. if a team with heydude, armas and ralston is the best the US can do, why waste time at the WC? boring and without any skill. shame a classy side like denmark or ireland will be shut out the cup and crap like the US or Mexico in. embarassing. makes me ashamed to be an american and embarassed to be in a confedration that is the short-bus of all regions. c'mon DC

I am glad the US is in. Tino should have gone in much earlier. Nowhere near the debacle of United's match, but not a resounding win in terms of play quality either. Going in US was rated 6th, Mexico 5th. Not sure what next week will bring, but we should at least move up to 5th, I guess. Mark
I love how on and OFF the field the US keeps demonstrating that there's really only one class team in the region. Even in defeat, to a slightly less than optimal US team, the Mexicans still can't just shut their mouths, have any semblance of class, and go home quietly when they are beaten--- again. What a bunch of jackasses. For that alone I wish we had scored a third goal. One for each of Levolpe's sister, mother, and grandmother. Which by the way, is mysogynistic in itself. It's not often I think an entire nation should be ashamed of themselves. And I have a question-- even if there were scores and scores of dedicated American soccer fans, I don't think there will ever be a way for a US soccer team to truly have home matches in this country-- at least not in terms of everywhere else in the world-- so what do we do? Related: I like how Santino seems to play the same way no matter what field he's on or what circumstances-- confident and direct.

that was more of a home match than Croatia with 10k+ supporters (and by that I mean people that don't stop for 90 minutes) had vs Bulgaria, Hungary or Slovenia (just what I can think in last few years or so) since all of those came with several thousand organized supporters. it might have been artificialy created but that was definitelly a home match.
It says here that Tino starts down in Guatemala wednesday, possibly with alum Convey. I hope they both have killer games.
i thought the crowd was pretty pro-US, they were by far the best part of the match. too bad it couldn't have been a bigger stadium with that ratio. i thought the fans were awesome, too bad the game, never quite measured up though i'm sure the US fans there went home happy.
i didn't really give a fig about the match but reading the mexican manager's post match comment did make me glad mexico lost. i would be a lot more interested in the usmnt if the damn mls wouldn't play on call up days.
Got back from Cowlumbus today. The crowd was nice...no, superb. GM and Vlad were piping things up in a big way, as I'm sure you could all hear some familiar tunes on the tube. I met some fantastic folks from Minnesota, PA, Chicago, Nebraska, Tenn., and even (dare I say) KC. Had a blast. As for the game, I certainly didn't have even a hint of the rotten taste that Red&Black experienced. From my perspective, the match was a true battle. The on and off-the-ball physical play was pretty brutal. Perhaps that didn't come through on the tube. But for pure technical soccer, yeah, this wasn't a lollipop affair. For the emotion, energy, and athleticism this was a world-class game. The US defense absolutely manhandled Mexico. Gooch was incredible. Berhalter was good. Frankie was surprisingly good and played his best ever US game that I've seen (hate to say it, but them is the facts). Armas was great, can't figure out for the life of me how people look down their noses at his play, as he was truly great. Enough about the technical sh!t. It was a fantastic game. In fact, it was such a great feeling to waltz right through and over Mucking Fexico into the World F'cking Cup. With one of the toughest weeks that I've seen this country experience, this little piece of pride was something else. As for being the weak little sisters of the world and this being a shore of shame for folks, I have but one question: are you guys taking your meds? I am truly proud of our national team. They (and Mexico and Costa Rica) have earned this confederation deserved respect in 2002...I never thought that was in doubt. With this impressive qualifying campaign, I am doubly proud and, indeed, optimistic about their chances in Germany. Happy Happy Joy Joy Oh Yeah. Almost Forgot. Fvck Denmark. Fvck Ireland. Glad Tino got some time in such a great result for the Americans. I'm excited to see the lineups for the last two qualifiers. I've gotta say, I'd much rather win ugly than not get results and play pretty. Mexico wanted an ugly game last night and they got it, but we put two in the net and they barely made Keller save a shot. I'm usually harsh on Armas, and would definitely like other players to be playing when fit, but he was a monster last night. The physicality of the game was enormous, and a bunch of non-soccer followers that watched with me were more than impressed. And did we seal it on a short corner? I guess I've gotta keep my mouth shut about those for awhile, too.
Jeez, what got into you? I just got back, and that was a hard-fough match between two excellent teams. Only one really came to play, though. Mexico thought they could steal a point, but weren't in any danger of doing that. It's possible that didn't come across on TV. Oh well. Ireland doesn't belong on the same field as us. Denmark is better, but are pretty one-dimensional as well. They only look good against one-note teams like England. If you seriously think either of those teams would show better than the US or Mexico, you need to hurry up and join us in the 21st century. We qualified w/ 3 matches to go. Now we can play our kids and get them some valuable experience.

Tino looked like he was about to burst as he was ready to enter the game. He just seems to loving life representing the US. I hope he shows well down in that tropical soup he's going to. As for the game, incredible experience and really enjoyable for me. I had an up close and personal view of that god awful foul of Beasley. Boy am I glad he took it to them by scoring a goal after that.
sorry, every time i see "Damien Duff" I think of "Duff-Man" for Duff beer in the Simpsons Givens I dont think is very good, Roy Keane is too old (maybe he should come to MLS ), Duff and Robbie Keane are top notch tho. Unfortunately, I dont know many others from their team. The way world soccer is right now, I'd say Anybody belongs on the field with Anybody else. Period.
