Let's hope they avenge the World Cup 2006 tie with a win. It's possible, but we need a lot better finishing to make it happen. Watching the Italian team, we'll have to make sure not to let our midfield's creativity be squashed by their style of play or give up too many balls in the midfield to let them do what Spain did to us in game 1. But I do think we can beat them, but this will be the real test of this team to see if they were just jittery against Spain or if they can't really keep up the likes of Spain, Italy, Argentina, etc.
Yes, and I am still smarting from that 1990 1-0 World Cup loss to the Italians. Perhaps their battle cry should be "Remember 1990, 2005, and 2006! But forget about all of the times that we have beaten them because that will not inspire us!" Now there's a battle cry that can bring home victory for our boys! Either that or "Remember Giuseppe Rossi!"
Cabrera will prove his worth..if the players bury the same chances vs Italy, that they have failed to do so far. Cabrera should not let them step off the Practice field until they start burying some shots in all directions and at every situation.
I hope Cabrera has strong subs he can use as starters against Italy 'cause our kids looked totally worn out by the UAE game. That said, our fitness levels looked quite good - props to the training staff. Like I posted in another thread, Nigeria heat must be debilitating.
really looking forward to this game. I think this is the first game we see the Edwards Show in its full force, i think our guy in between the pipes comes up huge
Silly, silly boy! Work the hell out of the boys in the debilatating heat of Nigeria that is a brilliant suggestion. Moreover, soccer is played in 45 minute intervals and practices should be organized similarly. Cabrera's impact on US Soccer will not be determined for 5-10 years following several cycles of U-17 charges. His value to the program will surely not be enhanced by abusing these players! Your recommendations have all of the elements of a spectator. Have you ever coached this game (God forbid)? Have you every played this game?
A) its an expression used to make sure they get the best they can out of their regular practice. B) Where does this abuse thing come in? Stop acting like you know something because you say "silly boy". I see a failed attempt at trying to stroke an ego.
im excited to see the game vs the italians i just hope the goals start coming and i think they will. the us has a strong team the defense is strong with eric zavaletta and jared watts they halted many counter attacks the UAE mounted(even when the mid field was slow getting back) but the mid field stepped up their game on the other end of the field and presented many scoring oppurtunities that just didnt get finished. i think this game will surely show the usa's finishing ability which was clearly shown in the qualifiers and they will get the win.
New battle cry: "Remember '34!!!!" (1934 World Cup: Italy 7, USA 1--US bounced out of WC after only one match.)
Would've wanted a more favorabel matchup, especiallly with teams out there like Burkina Faso and NZ, but oh well it is what it is. Haven't really watched any of Italy's matches, just the highlights....first thing that stands out is that they have some TALL players, which might pose a problem for us on set pieces. Should be a good test for the kids.
I don't think this is a strong argument for maturity. Anyway.... Anyone know anything about the young Italians or Italian-Americans that we will be facing?
Hey - where is UKSCOUTS when his opinions may be / are the most intersting? We havent seen him once during the entire U17 WC so far... During TJ / he was full of opinions.. Gonna bring him out to share them now?
Its hard to communicate with posters who love getting their ego's stroked on a computer board by calling posters who they know nothing about-"12 year olds",etc. Zoidberg gets a pass, since he says it in every post since he joined and he cant help it...........but anybody else who now uses that tag-line in their posts needs to give it a break, its not convincing at all.
Well, they're all playing at professional first division clubs: mostly clubs like Milan, Inter, Fiorentina, Genoa, Roma, Juventus, etc. So there's a couple of ways to look at that. A) They haven't been training together day-in and day-out like our U17's have been. In theory our squad should be the most organized/tightest group at the tournament. B) They're getting trained to be professionals at some of the best clubs in the world--------not to be the best U17 players. Different (but not mutually exclusive) paths.
Stop acting like a 12 year old There's a difference between being a douchebag (Zoidberg) and an immature weenie (#1F&A ie: You) Please don't have your mom send me any more e-mails asking me not to be mean to you on the interwebs?
Or you can be both a douchebag and an immature weenie. They're not mutually exclusive. It's easy to pick out the 12 year olds on these threads. I tend to just leave those kids alone, because I like their enthusiasm. The douchebags must be exposed and educated. Speaking of douchebags, what happened to Mike Seagroves?
Now back on topic............. -------------------Jerome-----------McInerney----------- Shinsky----------------------Gil------------------------------Sarle ------------------------------Palodichuk--------------------- Polak--------------Zaveleta--------------Watts--------------Herold -------------------------------Edwards---------------------------- As much as Duran is getting praised for not making too many mistakes on the ball. He dosent break up enough tackles to warrant the constant mis-communication between him and Palodichuk that leaves too much space in front of the 2 CB's. I would like to see Palodichuk who already has Durans game and than some as the DM and Gil as the attacking catalyst. Opinions?
