Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] Not good enough. This nation has peaked. It is all downhill now.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] That was a really really ugly 2nd half. NO ONE wanted to take shots from distance except for Torres(why am I not surprised). Oh well.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] Scary to think about. BUT, the up side is that seeing how lame we were/walking speed 2nd half, I think we can do a lot better. The fact that we came out so dominant skillwise is something I've never seen under BB. They just needed to keep that up. Boca is too slow people. Sorry.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] Dear Klinsy: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. It is unacceptable to lose to a B-side of a second-rate CONCACAF nation at home. I don't give a crap how friendly it is or how experimental you're being. Worst USMNT loss in how long?
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] shea, torres good. loving the move towards a possession game. we will slice and dice these chumps in wcq
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] I knew we were ********ed as soon as Klinsmann put on Kljestan.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] If we lost with heart it would be one thing. This was an absolutely disgraceful, gutless performance against a much inferior opponent.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] It isn't that we lost to CR, I wouldn't have a big problem with that. It is that we lost to a CR side who were missing a few good players and honestly were really weak on paper. Terrible performance, and Jurgen better not play Pia Sundhage and act like everything is sunshine and rainbows.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] When your midfield sub is RockTouch Kljestan, you're never going to do well. Castillo had one of the worst defensive performances I've ever seen. Give me Bornstein any day. Where was Omar Gonzalez? Not getting spun around on the Costa Rican goal, that much is for damn sure. Also, I forgot how much I hated Costa Rica's team, Miller and Saborio in particular. I hope we knock them out of the World Cup at the death again this cycle. EDIT: Donovan can't escape blame here either. He was absolutely terrible. Shea and Torres were quite good though. Positives.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] No cohesion between Shea and Altidore. They need a few more games together. Otherwise, what can you do when your best player has a stinker? I was surprised that Chandler didn't get forward more.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] In response to people saying "geez it was Costa Rica" In the last 2 times we played them we lost 3-1 and had to score in stoppage time to TIE with them at home 2-2.
Things started off looking good, but without finishing it amounted to nothing. We just lack an attacking edge. That's been the story forever: we still don't have players who are consistently convincing in the attack. After that half they played with diminishing heart and conviction. Really, that was a disappointing lackadaisical second half. Oy ...
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] Gotta be shittin me, Klinsmann was happy with the performance? Tell the truth just ONCE. If he honestly believes we had a good overall performance..well, then we're in a lot of trouble because he obviously has no idea what he's watching.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] Gotta finish... Anyways, this was a jolt back to reality, one that I think was coming albeit not so soon. Oh well, live and learn.
Re: USA vs. Costa Rica 9/3 Post-Mortem [R] That's the worst game I've ever seen Donovan play for the US. His passes were off, his shot was missed, his movement was slow. Is he that tired? Bocanegra pretty much solely at fault for the goal. Torres was our best player and so far ahead of number two it wasn't funny. Maurice Edu was not good and Castillo had a shocker. Everyone else was up and down. Costa Rica was really cynical for a freakin' friendly. I guess with an interim coach that's to be expected, but still. They must have had over 30 fouls in the game.
