And you failed to also account that he was facing tired opposition, and failed to mention him being unable to finish 1 v 1 on the 'keeper twice.

    He's "just a guy."

If you want him to learn to finish against top competition, like flexing his knee instead of his hip, you might want to play him more instead of playing ElRancho who had how many failures to finish? None, because he was never in a position to finish. Yay.

Meh, he's a garden-variety "try-hard" MLS type. Starting him would be imbecilic.

And if he hasn't learned to finish by now, he never will; his record reflects that inability.

[Start at 9:14, and tell us if he was "never in a position to finish," or if he just can't finish.]

Aaronson was instrumental in saving Berlin from relegation. The fans wanted him back based on his finish to the season under their 3rd coach. Berhalter didn't use El Rancho to help out on Vinny. He used Brenden. God forbid we should use players who try hard.o_O

Oh yes, whatever would Berlin have done, without his [snicker] 2 measly goals and 2 measly assists?

You want to [snicker] start a 2 goal scorer for a Bundesliga relegation struggler on what is supposedly a Top 20 national team? o_O

What a stupid argument. What makes it worse is the insufferable condescension in your post as well.

Gio Reyna hasn’t had a good run of club form in forever. Barely played at all last season.

Yes, I want him to play and play every minute he can for the usmnt.

Aaronson played well down the stretch for Union but apparently you don’t watch the games and only look at box scores.

I don’t see Aaronson starting for the usmnt right now. I still like Aaronson but there are better players in front of him but your argument is moronic and your condescension is insufferable.

Based on his finish to the season on loan from Leeds to the BL, yes. I tend to look at leading indicators rather than lagging ones. Keeps me ahead of the curve.

Yep. I was there. Very cold (for LA) winter night at the LA Coliseum. Romario had a ton of chances. But Preki had the wonder goal from long range.

Musah is one of the better players in the world at advancing the ball charging through traffic and attempted tackles in the midfield. If he could just develop some better offensive ideas he would be like a new Clarence Seedorf.

As an all time great, Romario is hugely underrated. Partly because he was coming back from a serious leg injury at the 1990 World Cup and not 100% and he missed the 1998 World Cup due to injury. There is an excellent series on him running on Max in Brazil right now. Hopefully they run it on Max in the U.S. later. I had the chance to watch him in person at PSV in a Champions League (still called the European Championship in those days) match in Eindhoven in 1989, and in all of the Brazil matches at USA 1994. He was amazing when he was motivated to play. He totally outclassed Maradona (in his prime) in Brazil’s win over Argentina in that Copa America semifinal at Maracana in 1989. If my team had a big game to play, he would be one of my first choice players, all time, on a very short list, along with Pele, Zidane, and few others. The man showed up in big games. Truly one of the very best players of all time.

And he was so impressive, that the "leading indicator" is that he must go play in the championship next season, instead of the Bundesliga.

Aaronson could be a great player if he spent less time dribbling into people and then falling over after slight contact.

Now you're just being completely disingenuous. Union Berlin wanted Aaronson back for another season, but he spoke with some of his compatriots and decided he'd like to play for Farke and try to help Leeds get promoted. But he could have opted to play in the 1.BL again.

Meh, at the end of the day, Aaronson is going down a level or two from the Bundesliga to the Championship.

If Berlin REALLY couldn't live without Aaronson's league-breaking 2 goals and 2 assists, I'm certain they could have moved heaven and earth to secure such a prize.

    But they didn't.

And, as "actions speak louder than words," for whatever public posturing Berlin may have done in the media about Aaronson, they didn't bother to take action to secure his services. That said, the Championship is closer to his level of abilities, in all likelihood. This will be better for him.

Maybe, in a league more suitable for him, he can break his (snicker) career highs in goals/assists.

Nah, don't be so hard on the guy.

I do get amused when an internet hard man tries to insult someone else, fails, and then is forced to agree with the person (s)he was trying to insult.

I've never experienced the Mandela effect until now. I have no memory of Gus Johnson calling soccer games. Bonkers.

    LOL, nah.

Hes been credited for what he is: A "try hard guy," because he does, in fact, try hard. Its an important skill for a player.

    Unfortunately, its his one skill.

If its fair to credit him for what he is, it is also fair to not what he is not:

He doesn't have a superior ability to strike the ball or finish, he seldom has a trick or technique to defeat an individual defender, he doesn't create the play through his passing. As a result, he's an attacker with 2 measly goals to his name for his club.

There's exactly zero "bashing" in that, because it is all fair and true. TBH, he might make a dandy FB or #6, if he can learn those positions, given his VO2 Max and "try hard" approach to the game.

Just to emphasize, in the PSV match, Arsenal started Nketiah, Jorginho, Saliba, Trossard, and Kai Havertz, all very good EPL players.

    Lousy, I'm sure....

But not scoring on a good chance because the keeper made an excellent save is very different from "choking" which is the point I was trying to make.

In that situation, choking would be not even getting off a shot on frame.....

It was ultimately Aaronson's and Leed's decision. He's contracted to Leeds. They paid 33M Euros for him. But, regardless, Aaronson wanted to go play for Farke, so Berlin didn't have anything more to do with it. But, yeah, I would have preferred him to play for Berlin for another season, personally, as he'd grown into the team as the year went on--regardless of his less-than-impressive countable stats.

Straw manning x1000. Even the twitter freak show gave the team and the coach their flowers. You find 2-3 people that don't, who gives a ----? There's always at least one crazy guy on a corner.
