Disappointing not to hold the lead until half, but other than that it was entertaining and well fought. Could've had another goal
Okay, overall, Im pretty happy with that performance at the half. I think we were the better team. If Doku always looks like that that bro gonna be playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid shortly. Jedi my undisputed MOTM so far. Hes come out as if he just survived Order 66 and wants vengence on the Sith.
It appears the Wes goal just pissed off Belgium. Good save from Turner just now. Credit is due But dayum, how did we go from Friedel Keller Howard to having to these current options.
My biggest takeaway from the first half: we have a competent head coach who is showing us how we might be beat top tier competition. I am hoping to see many change a in the second 45, regardless of the the outcome.
Good first half other than the obvious. Not sure Freeze would have stopped that but He may have. Turner is on thin ice.
I’d like to see what Freeman looks like vs Doku on that side. Zero confidence it’s any better than Weah… but I want to see it.
Turner probably should have had that but it's also like the fifteenth time I've seen Johnny be right in place to block a ball and just ... whiff. He lolligags a bit on the reaction, kind of hops at it. It's not all going to be on him, but for a guy whose value is supposed to be defense, every time he plays for us, we have these things where the key pass just moves right past him or he just doesn't get to it. There's always some kind of excuse, but he doesn't seem to make that play. (And yes, before the reactions, Ream should have gotten it, too.) I think there was also an intensity let down after our goal on defense ... or they picked it up. Either way, relatively, we didn't look as sharp in keeping shape and moving on defense as they attacked.
Well I believe that "stumble bum" Turner has solidified his place as the fourth GK in this bunch. (could also be behind some of the field players) His footwork is, and always has been, atrocious and that, actually, highlights his strength.
Turner likely waiting to react to a deflection on a rocket of a shot skimming past defenders legs. Its hard to commit early there. But it still looks like he should of had it.
I think Turner was waiting to make sure the shot didn't deflect off of one of the 3 US players it passed cleanly thru
As w As well as Jedi played in that first half, that was a terrible close-out on the goal. Just as liable as Turner imo.
I don’t really care if the ball is on the other side, the RB needs to stay tight to Doku. Simple switch creates a ton of space for him to run at the RB.
I miss having good goalkeepers. What a luxury in hindsight. Never thought the standard would fall so low.
that's a trickier save that what it looked, but turner still got a hand to it. an elite keeper keeps that out. you don't always get a clean look at the shot.
First Half: Turner: 3 Robinson: 6 Ream: 6 McKenzie: 5 Weah: 3 Tessman: 4 Johnny: 4 Tillman: 6 McKennie: 8 Pulisic: 5 Balogun: 6
If that is true then Turner not only screwed up his footwork but he also was not thinking like even a halfway decent goalkeeper. As a GK you save the shot FIRST and, if there is a deflection you try to react to that. You do NOT wait for a possible deflection. Waiting for a deflection is just stupid.
Guzan seemed to literally bite his tongue after Dunseth cornered him into kinda-sorta admitting that Turner should have saved that.
