The thing is a lot of the guys who aren’t here may have better club pedigrees but haven’t really showed it with the national team. I don’t think what’s as simple to just call up some more European guys and all will be solved. We need a healthy Jedi, Reyna, Tillman, Pepi, etc more than anything. And McKennie to come locked in next window.
Not sure that Adams is 100%. He is 100% 2-3 months per year on average. We might get lucky as in 2022. Should put a sticker "fragile" on him and stop calling to any camps till the final one before the WC. Everyone (except for Poch of course) knows everything about Adams nothing to learn here.
Wait, you think 28 is too old for a center back? I’d rather have the 28 year old than the 24 year old at center back all day, all else being equal. Forget about Blackmon, we won’t see him after this camp. So help me. I didn’t think he was a nightmare but he struggled and there was nothing there I thought was intriguing or any flash like I saw with poor first caps from Tillman and Jedi, for example.
The ‘can’t see it from my house’ trot back on the second goal has nothing to do with his physical state, it was not recognizing the danger to get back and help (yikes, but not likely) or something else I’m tired of accusing players of, even if the evidence can be damning. And he’s not a good progressive passer, don’t ask him to do that. Korea laid off him like a shooting guard who can’t make a three.
Pope played at the Olympics in 96 and made his full national team debut not much after that. He was a rookie, not a journeyman.
Blackmon is 29, Boca had been playing for the NT since 2001. He was 22 when debuted against South Korea!
Part is also the setup and system as for years now the sum of the parts is less than the parts themselves. This is the red flag less than a year out. We have both those major issues running concurrently. Usually our managers even with their issues either understand the pool or have a halfway decent system that plays towards the talent on hand and gets results.
I just don’t see it with Sargent. He’s just never dangerous. Like ever. You forget he’s out there he’s so invisible. I’ll be surprised if he makes the final World Cup roster.
