Pochettino is not going to sign a contract that ties his hands creatively. I don't know if any coach with less prospects would even do that. The influence would be tacit. Yeah. They don't show them shot by shot which is a bummer. Three shots from Balo inside the 6 in a row plus the one off Richards is gonna be lot of xG. But that's really misleading when youlook at how the 90 minutes really played out.

Sure, but there are better options than an uncapped 28-year-old MLS lifer and an out-of-position winger who isn’t even good at that.

His “testing the field” callups seem like he just went on Transfermarkt and sorted by value. No one in the world, including Blackmon himself, was clamoring for his call-up and start.

McKenzie has gotten opportunities with the national team though and it’s not like he’s done a ton when he has. He’s probably the best option unless Banks pops but he hasn’t really some anything to claim the spot.

Miles Robinson hasn’t been the same post injury.

 

What is the opposite of chemistry? Because that's why Pulisic and Sargent have. They need to build a 15 meter square cage on the practice field, lock them and one defender in it, and not let them out until they get on the same page. Jeez!

 

I mean Blackmon has been maybe the best center back in MLS this year. If that doesn’t earn a call up why call up Ream, Zimmerman, or Miles Robinson (though I would have preferred to see Jackson Regan).

The fact that he’s 28 and only played in MLS is irrelevant. The World Cup is next year and lots of guys who have only played in MLS have done fine for the US in World Cups. It’s not as if we have a ton of other options anyways. Now if he doesn’t perform he doesn’t perform but that’s what he should actually be judged on.

And Pochettino has looked at the other center back options and clearly isn’t satisfied there.

 

You mean today? He was the best option, and that’s fine, but who cares about Blackmon or Zawadski, they are already an afterthought. The idea of Ream on a WC should send shivers down spines.
He was bad, and I’m pointing it out. The GC isn’t indicative of the level of opponent we’ll face in the WC,’this is and he’s lacking, simple.
First cap guy was a ‘total nightmare’ (eyeroll) so that means Ream is off the hook?
