Some for sure, but we had a lot of good chances. And we had a lot of chances where we couldn't even get a shot off, which doesn't even help.
Not Ream's fault that there are no options. Whom from the roster you wanted to see there? Blackmon? Total nightmare. Zavadsky? He is the second best and the third doesn't exist. He had OK game by our standards.
You know full well it didn't require magic. Josh was near balls he'd get out-run to. He wouldn't check back to be an option or run the channels hard. When he got the ball he wasn't looking to square up his man like Balogun, rather look to lay the ball back. We would have had more possession in the final 3rd, chances, maybe a goal. Balogun generated multiple times the chances in 1/2 the time.
The money tied to Poch's contract is to the head of Citadel Hedge Fund, who has no MLS ties. There's lots of MLS money out there, but Poch's contract was someone else.
Footystats had it 1.81-.81. The other one was from Fotmob. They don't post it but they (probably AI) wrote an article and had that in it.
The problem is at center back no one has really shown anything other than Richards and no one has shown anything at backup left back that’s close to Jedi. The guys who played today didn’t play well but it’s not as if we have some surefire options out there.
This requires you being uninformed that Kenneth Griffin, who doesn't have ties to MLS, was the main subsidizer. Pochettino is not going to sign a contract that ties his hands creatively. I don't know if any coach with less prospects would even do that. The influence would be tacit. But Poch doesn't have to give a s**t, because if he's being leveraged to make decisions he doesn't want to, he'd walk to Man United, & make more $. So you follow the $. These are his choices, like it or not.
Those are not available right now....Just wait until next cycle maybe. This is NOT the golden generation. It sucks that we are the host this time and we don't have a decent team yet. It's so disappointing and depressing.
It doesn’t seem like either McKenzie or Miles Robinson really got a shot. Maybe they didn’t show well in practice.
Maybe our team just isn’t that good despite some individual guys who can slot in at a decent club level.
Yeah. They don't show them shot by shot which is a bummer. Three shots from Balo inside the 6 in a row plus the one off Richards is gonna be lot of xG. But that's really misleading when youlook at how the 90 minutes really played out.
Except that this is the most talented generation of players the USA has had. Cobi Jones said that this week and I think most former USMNT players would agree. But they don’t seem to equal, much less exceed, the sum of their individual parts.
Sure, but there are better options than an uncapped 28-year-old MLS lifer and an out-of-position winger who isn’t even good at that. His “testing the field” callups seem like he just went on Transfermarkt and sorted by value. No one in the world, including Blackmon himself, was clamoring for his call-up and start.
Why did you go out of your way to not mention Noahkai Banks here? Also what reason is there to believe that Ream is even better than Mark McKenzie right now?
Yes, we don't know whether Poch's contract includes a bonus for murdering drifters, so therefore he's probably got a train yard body count. FOLLOW THE MONEY.
McKenzie has gotten opportunities with the national team though and it’s not like he’s done a ton when he has. He’s probably the best option unless Banks pops but he hasn’t really some anything to claim the spot. Miles Robinson hasn’t been the same post injury.
What is the opposite of chemistry? Because that's why Pulisic and Sargent have. They need to build a 15 meter square cage on the practice field, lock them and one defender in it, and not let them out until they get on the same page. Jeez!
I mean Blackmon has been maybe the best center back in MLS this year. If that doesn’t earn a call up why call up Ream, Zimmerman, or Miles Robinson (though I would have preferred to see Jackson Regan). The fact that he’s 28 and only played in MLS is irrelevant. The World Cup is next year and lots of guys who have only played in MLS have done fine for the US in World Cups. It’s not as if we have a ton of other options anyways. Now if he doesn’t perform he doesn’t perform but that’s what he should actually be judged on. And Pochettino has looked at the other center back options and clearly isn’t satisfied there.
You mean today? He was the best option, and that’s fine, but who cares about Blackmon or Zawadski, they are already an afterthought. The idea of Ream on a WC should send shivers down spines. He was bad, and I’m pointing it out. The GC isn’t indicative of the level of opponent we’ll face in the WC,’this is and he’s lacking, simple. First cap guy was a ‘total nightmare’ (eyeroll) so that means Ream is off the hook?
You shouldn't call up any of them. Please name the player with Blackmon's profile who has gone to any tournament and done well.
