The press release said that it's the first of two friendlies before the March games, but doesn't say what the second one is or if it is connected to this camp.
Second one is usually in February and part of the January camp. Last year games were Jan 28 and Feb 8. This year it was Jan 31 and Feb 5. But before 2015 we usually only played one game. This is the first home game not in Carson.
Fun, or not fun, fact. Every USA friendly was attended by less than 10,000 people in 2016 January in Stubhub vs Iceland and Canada was each about 8,803 - 9,274 Ecuador in Dallas 9,893 Bolivia in KC 8,894 New Zealand at RFK 9,012

Especially since I never received any pre-sale info from US Soccer. I would have purchased 4 tickets, now I am thinking "F You"!
It will be for sure, but we put 25,000+ in there for a friendly against Guatemala in July 2013, and the Q actually did all right. They crowded everyone into one side of the stadium and as long as you didn't look up at the upper deck you could almost convince yourself it was 1/2 full. Now that was a night game so it was easier to ignore the completely empty upper deck will probably be harder for a day game.

Not bad numbers but will look awful in such a huge stadium. Hopefully the tv guys can get creative with the shots hah
Not bad. Hopefully the increased interest in soccer with the unveiling of the San Diego MLS bid brings out a bunch of late arrivals. With the Chargers no longer relevant to San Diego the local sports talk station 1090 has been doing some decent pimping of this game.
Ticket master has everyone crowding on to the north side of the stadium for this one too so they're likely using the same tactic to create some better TV views and what atmosphere they can. Still 11,000+ already is ahead of any friendly last year. And vs a less interesting opponent no less...
Make that 11,506 since I haven't bought my tickets yet Should get a decent walk up crowd too. US Soccer has not done a very good job of marketing. Most people I know are just hearing about it for the first time (often when I tell them about it) but as others said, with all the hype around the new stadium, which has been the number one sports story, all week, the game is getting some traction.
Yeah just keep letting people know. Because whomever is putting this game on has not made it very apparent the game is happening. Outside mentions when the MLS stadium comes up.

Cool. I wonder if he has any updates from the last 3 days. The Sports radio guys around here, particularly Darren Smith on 1090 who is a big soccer fan, have finally been talking about the game.
