I'm sure most of you already got this but for those who didn't here's a snippet from Soccer America's MLS Confidential:

Also close to being confirmed are U.S. games against Mexico and Wales
in May. Invesco Field at Mile High is being considered as a site for
a Mexico friendly in early April.

Mexico in April, Mexico in May.....I'd like to happen, hoepfully in May so there's more time for promtion.

Hypothetically speaking, if the match is here, ideas:

Pre-night drink up at Falling Rock, etc?

Most imporatantly, US Supporters in 127 also?

Post-Match starts at the Celtic and goes to wherever?

Note: By no means am I jumping the gun or assuming anything. Just throwing out ideas so if it happens, so there's something to build on from the get go event-wise.

Yes, yes and yes. We should try to work up a good tailgate as well, but that's a given.

Of course this all depends on IF we get the game (I've always heard that Houston was the front-runner). I'm curious to see how many visiting US support we'll have if it's on a weeknight. We had a good group last year, but that was pre-world cup.

I started my move out here a week after last year's match, but 49K was damn impressive given that there was about 3 1/2 weeks if I remember from the official annoucement to kickoff.

This was posted on the Men's Forum earlier:
"FWIW, the guys on Radio Noticias (920 AM) in Houston mentioned this afternoon that this game is set for May 8 at Reliant. No sources given - it's still sports talk radio, after all. "
    "This afternoon" was February 27th.

Info. appreicated. It's just idea tossing here so a plan can get turned into action more quickly if it's here. If it's May 8 in Houston, I'm as good as there as well, unless flight prices doubled since I last checked.

If these bastards schedule a US-Mexico match at Invesco durning the week of the NCAA Frozen Four for the second year in a row... well, me and Dr. Bob are gonna have words.

I think the Mexico friendly in April is going to be Mexico versus somebody other than the USA.

I asked someone who works for the Rapids about this possibility and he said it wasn't likely.

I believe the other option was to play in Houston.

I kind of think I'd rather not see US-Mexico for a while. Don't get me wrong, if they play I am sooooo there. But it is possible to have too much of a good thing.

I'm cool with them playing against somebody else here. As long as it's not another team I hate (ie Holland, S. Korea) I'll cheer for their opponents.

I didn't say I'd cheer for Mexico, I wouldn't know who to cheer for in that situation.

I believe the word you're looking for is JEER, not cheer.

Nope. It's always root/cheer against Mexico, go for their opponents, at least for me.

I guess I may be in the vast minority here but I cheer for Mexico against anyone but the US. When they play the US, I want us to humiliate, emasculate and otherwise anihilate them.

I think to keep it a good rivalry, Mexico has to have some success internationally and I am hoping that eventually they are not always going to be the world's
b!tch. I am also about North American teams doing well to hold back the Euro poser vermin that sit on the edge of their oft penetrated seats waiting for anyone to challenge the "wisdom" that all that is great and good in soccer inevitably is from Europe.

I love watching European soccer on TV but get sick of hearing people of admittedly great acheivement like Klinsman talking about how the Americans lacked the German will to win, ignoring the handball on the goal line.(Am I the only one who get's nervous hearing a German start talking about their superior will? The image that comes to my mind is black and white films full of great pagentry from the 30's.)

So while I didn't like wearing a beer at the end of the US/Mexico game last year at Invesco when I dared celebrate the end, I'd go see them again attempt to beat some Euro side. I might even buy one of those big sombreros with MEXICO stitched into it so if beer does come flying down form somewhere above, I will have a good shield.

[undertatement]I love cheering for all of the other CONCACAF teams, but there's just something about Mexico that doesn't let me.[/understatement]

I stand with Ingmar on this one. I will always cheer for Mexico as long as they aren't playing the USA. Will gladly wear my Mexico jersey too.

I do have one of those big sombreos, don't have Mexico in it.......I got a Rapids color scheme, sort of.

It would be interesting to see another match here, but under better weather conditions. It was cold that night, except at the end of the match when I did go balistic and the hot chocolate and coffee rained down. I didn't give flying rats arse, USA 1 - MEX 0 ja jajajajajaja ja.

Maybe it's the intense rivalry but I can't cheer for Mexico, not even in the past first round of the World Cup. It's something about them that gets under my skin more than anyone. The other CONCACAF teams, absolutely.

I'll do cartwheels if this goes through.

And go on a postal rampage if they play the game 1 week later.

Actually, if Bruce is weaning the young guys, he might as well let them cut their teach on the North American Classico. It will be like an away game, and it's a better test than Jamaica.
