The US plays Jamaica in Kingston in the first leg of the 2024 CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals, Mauricio Pochettino's first competitive match in charge of the US. Kickoff is at 8 PM EST and should be on schedule, since it's a rare away match with USSF and US television networks not the powers in control of the match kickoff time. Steven Goff @stevengoff.bsky.social USMNT lineup at Jamaica: Turner; Scally, McKenzie, Ream, A Robinson; Cardoso, Tessmann; Musah, McKennie, Pulisic; Pepi. 8 pm ET, TNT, Universo, MAX, Peacock https://bsky.app/profile/stevengoff.bsky.social/post/3lax2proltk2k

not much playmking ability in the lineup lot of piano carriers i feel like poch still doesnt have a very good grasp of the players and the player pool.....dont expect a very strong performance from this usmnt...but hope im wrong
I’m excited about this lineup? I think Tessmann could be good with this group, and I’m excited about what he could do as a starter.
This is a road QF. We don’t need to “express ourselves” at the expense of a point. Without Reyna and Dest we don’t have much of a chance at a “strong performance” anyway. I’m not expecting us to look very dangerous. But I’m expecting us to grab a point.
Prematch is being hosted in the studio. Martino is there too, so it looks like HBO isn't paying its commentators to travel to away matches. The stadium in Kingston looks 90% empty.
Yes I saw Musah vs Madrid. And yes I am still incredibly skeptical about employing him wide instead of CM.
Weston is the ideal 8. It’s time for him to step up and take some ownership in the team the way that Michael Bradley and Jermaine Jones did. I agree with Martino in that the team could experience growth with him becoming more assertive.
If I recall, the US record in Jamaica in competitive matches is a Klinsmann win, a Klinsmann loss, and a bunch of draws.
've seen 3 different Jamaican lineups out there, but going of The TNT graphic Goalkeeper: Andre Blake - Philadelphia Union Legend. Been with the club since leaving UConn in 2013. One of 3 players in the lineup tonight born in Jamaica along with Lowe and Bailey Left Back: Leigh - Former Manchester City youth product who played a big part in Oxford United's promotion from League One to The Championship last season, but has mainly been coming off the bench this year. Though he did start their last 2 matches. He scored that opening goal against us last year in The Nations League Semis. LCB: Bell - Rockville, Maryland native who came up through The DC United System and played college ball at UMBC. Currently with The Seattle Sounders, though he hasn't started for them since mid-July. CB: Lowe - Former Philadelphia and Miami defender who moved to The 3rd worst team in Saudi Arabia back in August. Did score against us in that 2023 Gold Cup match. RCB: Holgate - 28 year old former England youth international who joined The Jamaican Program just last month. He's an Everton product who did get a brief cameo in their season opener before being loaned to West Brom in The Championship. He did not actually see the field for them until just a couple weeks ago, but has started 3 straight matches. Right Back: Lembikisa - 21 year old London Native who's on the books with Wolves but in his 3rd straight season at a new loan spot. Currently with Yverdan Sport, the 3rd worst team in The Swiss Super League at the moment. Left Wing: Gray - Man with 200 Premier League games to his name plus an additional 10 with Bayer Leverkusen, but currently getting paid in Saudi Arabia. If Transfermarkt is correct he hasn't played since late September, not sure why RCM: Latibeaudiere - 24 year old who's teammates with Haji Wright at Coventry, and occasionally captains them. He's a CB at the club level and did play there in THe Copa America for Jamaica, but has usually been in the midfield at the international level LCM: Palmer - Was also teammates with Haji at Coventry early in the season before being loaned out to fellow Championship club Hull City. Mostly coming off the bench so far this year Right Wing: Bailey - Their best player who is returning after a year long absence due to a fallout with their former coach and the federation as a whole. Hasn't always played great for The National Team though Striker - Nicholson - Starting in place of the suspended Antonio, he's been at Spartak Moscow since 2021 (though was on loan in France last year) where he has 3 goals this season. Has scored against us twice, the winner when they stunned us at Audi Field in 2019, and then their loan goal in a 3-1 loss to us in The Gold Cup semis.
"Official" lineup has 4-2-3-1 with Cardoso/Tessman as the CMs and Puli-Wes-Musah as the 3. I can see it morphing to 3 at the back in possession.
