Pre injury he would have moved to a decent club in a top 4 league post World Cup but he just hasn’t been the same player since. I am happy for him he’ll have the chance to go to the World Cup after missing due to injury but he’s just never been at the same level since the injury.

I find with alot of players they have habits once they reach the pro level and they don’t go away. That just might be what Weahs like.
We're soft mentally. That's fundamentally it. We'll do well against teams that we're better than and lose to the Euro Power 7 and probably Switzerland or Croatia. We'll get 4-6 points out of the first 2 games, because we have 20+ BIg League players and both those teams have, like 5. Then Turkey is a question mark, then we'll win the R32 and then we'll play Belgium or Argentina in the R16 and lose by 2-3 goals. Because this team doesn't have the mentality.
I have worked in the industry, they don't publish their algos even though they are pretty straightforward usually something along the line of start with a baseline say 6.0, tick up foe each positive action and down for each negative. Where they differ is the value of each action. In some sense similar to how we subjectively evaluate players. Note both FotMob and SofaScore rated Puli and Dest the worst players in the match.

We gave up two against Senegal and two against Germany. Australia and Paraguay are nowhere near the level of Germany. Maybe Paraguay is close to Senegal but not in terms of attack. Paraguay’s strength is defense. Turkey maybe is comparable to Senegal but not Germany. We will be fine defensively if Richards is healthy.
On the second goal, Tyler Adams was standing there marking grass as Sane ran by him for the goal. Which means he was at fault on both goals. But dome players are protected.
No our D is not great. But until today we hadn't even played our best rotation. And every one of those teams are Top 15 in the world. Its not as bad as a bunch of you are making it out to be. Do you guys actually think our group opponents are going to average almost 3 goals/match against us? Good freaking grief.
The next step is to get more Champions League level players throughout the team. A few more passes find their way and that German team is beatable.
I blame the entirety of the ****housing on the ref. These weren't and aren't two dirty teams. They play hard, very hard, and yes the Germans were intentionally rougher earlier (that's the book on stopping Puli, we all know that), but *any* sort of boundary from the ref would have been enough to keep this in line. He gave them absolutely nothing. It's too bad, because that was a pretty awesome game otherwise. I continue to be baffled by having a US team with great attackers, great outside wings, and a terrifyingly shaky defensive core. Ream was decent today and better than we can expect. I'm not sure if that reassures me a bit or scares me a bit more. I suppose the answer to that depends on the answer to the Chris Richards question. Poch walking around on the field during play in his sweatpants was pretty hilarious. He looked like a big soccer poster.
But in the post-game interview, Tyler Adams having been partially at fault on both goals, said the team had achieved most of what it was looking for. So thankfully we brought Roldan for the barbecues and sunshine.
