    RESULT [R]

As most of you have noticed, the USSF release has the result inverted. The US won 2-0. But kudos to the USSF for posting a write-up!

As for the game, anyone who feels that the Canadian youth teams are of mediocre quality should re-assess. For a few years now their youth teams have been doing well.

They have more than a handfull of technically accomplished players, inroads to a few club teams that have helped their players develop, and a federation that seems to be settled and focused. If they had a domestic league, and/or a team that made a major committment to their players, they might be challenging the US in not too long.

This is one of the up-and-coming countries in the world IMHO, and will soon become a force to be reckoned with in CONCACAF.

That said, we shouldn't read anything into the result. Both teams are good, and we difinitely should be playing Canada youth teams whenever we can. Both teams are motivated to play and have a lot of respect for one another.

Best of luck to the US U-23's, particularly the DC United triumvarate of Convey, Santino and Mapp. It's nice to notice that both goals came while Mapp was in the game, and the first while Convey was in the game also. As for Esky, this is yet another feather in his cap and his bid to be #1 overall. WTG for the UVa product bagging both goals!

While normally I would agree with you, I'm not so sure about this..

Without any kind of a decent domestic league, Canada will never make any strides worldwide.. Occasionally, like right about now, they come up with a few decent players sprinkled in with the usual "hard working" players that can make a difference but Canada really needs to get some sort of decent league running to make the kind of strides that the USA has made in the past 4 years..

I do agree that their youth National Teams have been quite competitive but none of them have made any kind of noise during WC tournaments despite playing well in CONCACAF qualifying..

As for Eskandarian, this effort probably seals up his #1 pick for United, though personally I am not sold on him one bit...
