Here's what I have? If you want the goal scored by El Salvador, I can put it up on one of the sites. There are two different sites for each clip, to make sure everyone gets a chance to see them, they are the exact same thing! AmeriBlog Enjoy, cheers!
he was a little far out to score on that... another 8 yards closer to the goal and the puppy had a chance. the amount of power needed on that from the top of the box could not come out of a 13 year old kid... although this is freddy we are talking about.
It's still amazing that we have nothing that even compares to him on the USMNT right now. Who could ever pull off a move like that right now?
I can think of a few on the USMNT that could pull off that move - Mathis, Donovan, to name just two. Freddy is not God. He's great, spectacular - but get real. Our USMNT players do what is necessary to WIN games.
AmeriBlogger, I would like to see the El Salvador goal, supposedly a real nice save from Marfuggi, but the rebound got tucked away. Being an ex-keeper, I'd like to watch the save, if you could find it in your heart to help out!
Indeed. There were only four players lined up, with one player behind the wall. If that player was to keep an eye on the lone El Salvador player next to the wall, he didn't do a good job. Had he also moved to his right, like that El Salvador player, he would be in the path of the shot.
The great thing about the Adu bike was not the bike itself, what amazed me was his fake before and his touch to put the ball where he could bike it.
i second that commotion - ladies and gentleman, meet the next tiger woods, lance armstrong (the winning in europe, not the cancer) & michael jordan rolled into one
no way mathis and donovan could do that. I've never even seen donovan TRY a bike... and if you've seen mathis try a bike you know he's not quick enough to do that.
true I 100% agree. That first touch was simply amazing, especially considering the height that ball came down from and the postition he was in. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ball came down over his shoulder (a la Willie Mays and "the catch") and he still gave himself the perfect set up for a bike. That shows amazing balance, touch, and coordination. Superb stuff.
Question Is Freddy right footed? Because if he is, that was just an unbelievable play. What player in the world would attempt a bike from that distance with his weaker foot? Seriously, comparisons to Pele would not be over-rated.....
McBride biked one into the back of the net for Everton. He actually flubbed the bike, though, and really just got lucky.
Exactly. I DL'ed this clip expecting to see a cross or something to set up his bike...but no...what did I see? Big Baby Jesus himself setting up his own bike!! Dare I say that this particular sequence was only a hair less impressive than "THE GOAL" and "THE SETUP?" Ameriblog, you've already done yeoman's work, but can you do it Adu-style? If you somehow have the clip of Adu beating 2 Sallies in the box in the 90th minute, you'd be annointed the best thing to come along since God (erm, I mean Freddy) himself. No worries if you can't. You're still a superstar! P.S.: Keep us posted on the details of USSM.
McBride didn't flub it. He just didn't get enough on it I think. Although I think it hit a defender and dribbled in anyway. Balboa's bike in the '94 WC was so much better than this one. And there are lots of other players on the US team that can do stuff like that... They don't try too often, but that's not surprising. Its rare that you get a chance for a bike in a game. I'm not trying to belittle Adu's effort of course. It is amazing to see such a young player have the guts, presence, and Skill to nearly get a goal out of it. Its the trap to set up the bike that amazed me. That kind of a header clearance is not easy to bring under control. Also, it looked to me like he trapped it and hit it with his left foot. Watch it again. I can't tell for sure, but it looks more like the left than the right to me.
