I guess this croix tournament is actually a warmup for this u-19 tournament that the U.S.A is going to take part in later in July. just click on team news for all the teams. but as of now it is in two groups.

    group one:
brazil, northern ireland, wales and denmark

    group two:
    paraguay, scotland, poland and USA

looks like some good competition, busy summer for the 18's.

Danny Karbassiyoon should be on it- Mike Videira, Boston Bolts rising senior,is on it.

Arturo Alvarez and Craig Capano usually play with the 18s/19s so long as their teams allow them to go. Stanford-bound Andrew Kartunen should be one of the goalkeepers. just a few off the top of my head

i wonder if alvarez and capano would be allowed to go, seems like their respective clubs might need them. I wonder when the rosters are going to be submitted.

The tournament starts Saturday so presumably the US has submitted its formal roster and probably leaves for NI in the next day or so.

Has anyone seen a formal roster from US Soccer?

This was on the ChicagoMagic/ChicagoFireReserves (a Magic susidiary it looks like) website over a week ago. The Milk Cup site won't let me see"Teams" info yet.

Pat Phelan and Danny Vasquez, two rising seniors who played very well at esp camp, said they are going

Thomas Rongen told me Chad Marshall, Jordan Harvey and Heath Pearce from the U20 team, defenders all, are going to be with that team. (so I guess they are all 19s).

Phelan a central defender who the scouts over there are going to love, although he seems inclined to go to college. Vasquez would love a pro shot.

I believe this is where Jonathan Spector was discovered last year.

Based on his comments in the past, I think Marshall would definitely be interested if the right offer was made.

Hopefully some of the others can use this as a showcase as well, particulalry those in the current U20 pool like Pearce, whose chances of making the WYC roster would definitely increase if he signed with a Euro team this summer. (And unlike a lot of college coaches - Ray Reid - precedent suggests Clive Charles wouldn't deter him from signing.)

Based on what GersMan and others have posted, we know these guys are going to NI:

    Brad Guzan (South Carolina, Fr.)
    Jordan Harvey (UCLA So.)
    Chad Marshall (Stanford So.)
    Heath Pearce (Portland So.)
    Pat Phelan (HS Sr.)
    Danny Vasquez (HS Sr.)
    Mike Videira (HS Sr.)

I assume regular U18 standouts like Kartunan, Dalby, Norman and Cristman will be on the roster and that stud Ramon Nunez won't be since he isn't yet a US citizen.

Who do we have to blow to see some match reports with some lineups from the U18 team?

See what I mean about this group being the red-headed stepchildren of the youth national teams?
