6-0 to the USA, no word yet on goalscorers or lineups.

Goal Differential is now the most important item for the U17s. Chivas won 5-1 tonight, which puts the US in first place in the group with a +6 GD, and Chivas behind them with a +4.

This might be trouble because the team the US played was bumped up from the regular U19 group when the Salvadoran team didn't show. The team tried but wasn't ready for this level of competition. I arrived at the second half and it was already 2-0. Kind of hard to give impressions when a team is romping but #14 looked good and he is not in my program from yesterday. He played somewhere in central midfield and scored 1 maybe 2 headers.

I read on the Dallas Burn board that Freddy didn't play in this match. I can't find any other reports anywhere.

    I'll be there Wednesday though...

That's what i've heard as well. Makes sense, it sounds like this Canada team was in over their head after they had to fill in for all the teams in bracket A that backed out.

    Midwest, the real one.
Looks to me like a win puts us thru. 7 points would be the highest possible 2nd place team should we lose out to Chivas on goal diff.

Only the top team in each group advances to the semifinals, no second place goes through.

It all comes down to who can score more goals. Rightnow the US has a two goal advantage over Chivas but both teams have 1 game left so it should be interesting.

But I have a question... what happens if both teams end up with the same points and same goal differencial? What would be the tiebreaker then?

    Most likely total goals scored...

    USA - 8/2

    Chivas - 7/3

USA ahead on both accounts.. Chivas would need a big win to surpass the USA...

Now I didn't bother to read thru the format, but it looks to me like three groups, 3 group winners advance, with the wild card being the best second place team.

You are right. Here is Item 8 of the rules on the dallas cup website.

Groups consisting of 20 teams or more will have the 1st place team in each bracket and the wild card team(s) with the most points per (7) above advance to the elimination stage. Groups consisting of 16 teams will have the 1st and 2nd place teams in each bracket advance. Groups consisting of 12 teams will have the 1st place team in each bracket and the wild card team with the most points per (7) above advance. Groups consisting of 8 teams will have the 1st and 2nd place teams in each bracket advance.
