Gives props to 3rd Degree in his preview. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/soccer/columnist/dure/2003-03-31-dure-mls_x.htm
Beau Dure wrote of the Burn: "the defense consists mostly of draft picks from the past two years ..." What? Which of the following four starters was drafted in the past two years: Morrow, T-Bone, Suarez, Broome? The Burn had THREE candidates for defensive "best 11" nominations. Does this guy do his homework? If anything, that has become a strength. And he also says "After Kreis, Suarez, and Vaca, it gets murkier ..." I guess Pareja (MLS Best 11), Martinez, and Obrien aren't worth squat ... geez give me a break. At least USA today is writing about soccer, we should be happy with that.
Chicago ahead of DCU? The only way Dallas ends up 4th is if we don't score any goals. Interesting outlook, but it does give mention of 3rdDegree ... Seems Buzz is getting some help 'out there'.
That's the 2nd prediction sheet that has Dallas at # 4 in the West. I just don't see it. San Jose will struggle all year. Their defense is slower than Xmas and older than the San Andreas fault. They lost Graziani and Derasario ain't no Graziani. Colorado is okay but I think they'll be streaky. We're # 3 at worst and there will be big gap between 3 and 4.
1. la 2. dallas 3. colorado (even without the frenchman) 4. kc 5. quakes that's how i see it in the west, of course injuries could and will most likely ruin those predictions
Wow, Jim, I just wrote my West predictions for my company website and your picks are mine exactly. I see Dallas as very dangerous this year.
i love you, Segroves. But Jim and I are about as diametrically opposed on the radio as you and Pakovits are here on BS.
No - course not. KC sucks. LA at # 1 - sad but true. Us at # 2 - but I can entertain a debate for Colorado finishing #2. But IF they lose Grimandi, I don't see it. Chung and Henderson will be hard pressed to repeat what they did last year. KC and SJ will suck.
Don't you worry about it, Colorado will dominate Dallas and take the second spot. Then an unlikely upset in the playoffs will get them through to the championships.
Right now, I think Dallas is number three, but once Jeffries engineers the late season collapse, KC could rise in the table with a strong finish. The defense should be strong, protecting an goalie who is a question mark. The mid is crowded with talented players. Who will score the goals? The usual suspects will grab a few, but a team needs a few dangerous men. Kreis will have to have another good year. And we need to find someone else. EJ might be ready. There might be an allocation. Cerritos may still be good, though he was worthless last year, and I do mean before the injury. And then there is the mystery trialist. Without an answer to the above question, it will be long summer in Dragon Stadium without beer.
