That was a good article, nice to see the banners that so many have worked on to get quoted.

Very cool article - just reading about that game gets me choked up again. i also noticed they had a little poll to the side of the article. here are the latest results.

Who will win MLS Cup 2004?

    D.C. United 73.96%
    Kansas City Wizards 26.04%

    Total Votes:192

Maybe he couldn't read the large banner next to the Eagles.
Great job Owen. What's wrong with Jesus?
This guy should go work for CBS.

What the hell are you talking about? Did he say anything was wrong with Jesus in the article? I think he got the joke implied in the Jesus Loves, Nicky Saves banner.

And I'm willing to bet that the two times "the United" showed up were the result of his editor, and not the writer himself.

Easy, Mike. I think the provenance of the banner is the matter in question here.

Do you mean where he wrote "perhaps nailed up by a member of the incumbent administration?" That was a joke.

Article was ok, though it gave no credit to my supporter's club, made my brother's banner into some kind of ode to bitterness over evangelical fans of Bush. Nothing to get up about, let's focus on beating the Wizards.
    ;)

Picturing Owen as a born-again Christian is funny enough.

    As a born-again athiest, I find Owen's banner hilarious :D

I took it as a joke on Bush and his buddies, which I also found hilarious.

If the Barra was to the left of the SEs, he would have said it was all Barra, he just used the name
    a) he saw first or
    b) fit better into the story as a play on words :)

Still, it did a good job of conveying some of the passion, so it was a good story, if not made to be boring with all the correct names.

Maybe someone with better photoshop skills than I can work him into a picture of the Branch Davidian or Doomsday Cult. I always wondered why he wore black Nikes. ;)

About the Jesus/Rimando banner, I am a Catholic and voted for Bush and frankly just thought it was a joke. Not a slam on anyone, just a joke.

Why must people read so much into everything?

I'm as far from Christian as it gets and I thought it was funny too. It's just clever take on common phrase.

    Anyways... DIE KANSAS MOTHERFVCKERS
