Wales have agreed to play the USA in San Jose, CA on 26th May 2003.
The Welsh squad are currently doing extremely well for a "small nation and squad" and currently top the group in the qualifications for "Euro 2004" to be played in Portugal next summer. They are currently on a long unbeaten run, and are ahead of Italy in the group and beat them at the Millenium Stadium.
This could be a good test for both countries.

The FIFA site has often made errors on dates so if anyone is wrong it would be them in my opinion.

This should be a fun game, especially if Wales brings something close to their full squad.

isn't the 26th of May a Monday? do they play games on Mondays?
May 24th, which FIFA does say, is a saturday.
    makes more sense.

Get ready for the damn Welsh minority outnumbering and outsinging the USA fans at the game. Why do they schedule these friendlies in California? They'll probably all be drunk, too.

It was posted over here as the 26th, which, correctly stated, is a Monday, and the 24th would make more sense as a Saturday, unless....is the Monday a public holiday in the USA? It is over here as "Whitsun", or referred to as "WhitMonday".

I noticed the smiley but is there really a sizable Welsh population in NorCal?

I haven't the foggiest. I'm sure there are some. I've even run into a couple here in Minnesota.

They like to wait until the media in the opponent's country has reported it as fact, FIFA puts it on their site and ESPN lists the game on their site before they make their announcements. And then they make it as if they are releasing some starting piece of new information and then don't understand when the news doesn't get much coverage. Or, so it seems.

Wales is actually doing surprisingly well in European qualifying and I think most of their players are sort of journeymen in England. Could be kind of like playing Ireland in the years when they don't have any big stars.

Wish I could see it in person, but I guess I'll have to settle for watching it on TV, where at least we'll be able to make fun of Ty as he tries to pronounce the names of cities in Wales that have no vowels.

Actually, I think they like to wait until they have signed contracts for all the various components (tv, stadium, other country). That can take a lot of time. Meanwhile, word starts leaking out from all these different places.

You all under rate Wales' individual talent, Craig Bellamy the current young player of the year, Giggs a world known star and Simon Davies is absolutle class, one of the best right mid fielders in the EPL imo. Throw in someone with the form Koumas has shown this season, Savage who will upset any team and Gary Speed, a mainstay in one of the EPLs finest teams with some emergeing stars like Earnshaw and Gabiadan (Sp?) and you have one class team.

Wales just as England's national team have good to great individual players, but as a team they just don't play well. I'll never understand why this is . Maybe the style of play, i just don't know.

The kicker is that Michael Owen could have played for Wales but picked England instead (like everyone else would have done).

That's changed under Hughes though, which explains their recent great run of form. Wales will beat anyone on their day.

It's too bad that we can't provide our worthy opponents with a decent venue for the match. To hold an international at Spartan Stadium is a waste of time.

    Except Ryan Giggs, that is.
