The last time (4-20-97) we played Mexico in Foxboro the crowd, contrary to expectations, was mostly Mexican.
let me challenge the idea that the US should play Mexico in the cold and Canada in the heat. As home team, and favored big time against anyone but Mexico, where we're just favored a bit, the US should desire ideal playing conditions all the time. Rain, sleet, hail, locusts- these favor an unpredictable outcome, in other words the visitors may benefit from these much more than the US. I'll take 70 and sunny, thanks.
9,000 is generally the floor for USMNT WCQ match attendance, so college soccer stadiums are pretty much out of the question. With that said, Rosenblatt Stadium (Omaha) might work for a friendly.
Looks like the 6 sites being considered for the semifinal round are all (or will be) MLS stadiums: 1) Bridgeview (Toyota park) 2) Columbus (Crew Stadium) 3) Frisco (Pizza Hut Park) 4) Commerce City (the Dick) 5) Washington DC (RFK) 6) Seattle http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=506022&cc=5901 Me Likey. If they play a game in Seattle though, it should prolly be the last one as I think that is a loner game with no corresponding weekend date.
Actually, I think the loner game is better suited for the east coast. Shorten the travel time for the Euro based players if they're only coming in for one game.
What I would like to see. Trinidad @ Bridgeview Cuba @ The Dick Guatemala @ Seattle We can save Fort Hunt for the Mexicans
prolly right. i was thinking more out of selfish reasons being an east coast person. I'd actually prefer they save seattle for the Hex.
