US just need to settle down, hold the ball a little bit, stretch Serbia out, to counter Serbia's collapse defense. They aren't man marking just starlight collapse which eliminates the lanes, and lines. You literally can't do anything if your trying to move the ball around and press down the middle. . US need to keep the ball, short passes, use the width of the field to stretch them out and displace the formation they're using. Then they can exploits collapsing holes.
Vasquez reminds me so much of a gifted and more technical Wondolowski. He's a complete player. We should have taken him to the World Cup. We 100% could have used him.
I knew once we settled in, and exploited there collapse defense we'd start to look a little better and move the ball more.
As you see we're trying to play wide through Cowell right now against their collapse defense as I said and its allowing us to retain posses. Serbia will now need to adjust their tactical approach to counter the wide play.
Our speed on the wings both right and left and up top is way faster. They will struggle vs the wide press transition instead of the middle press. They also shifted into a 3-1-2-4 right now (USMNT) which allows super wide play
