USA Rugby and Sports Authority Confirm Partnership

Boulder, Colo. - USA Rugby and Sports Authority have confirmed the formation of a new partnership.

Sports Authority is now the official sporting goods retailer of USA Rugby. An industry leader, Sports Authority plans to provide USA Rugby members with exclusive, unprecedented member benefits starting in February.

The new partnership is designed to increase benefits to the USA Rugby membership and support the explosive growth of rugby at the youth and high school levels.

“During the last 12 months we have been working with Sports Authority to develop two exciting initiatives that will benefit all USA Rugby members and support the explosive growth of the youth and high school game across America,” said USA Rugby CEO, Nigel Melville.

USA Rugby members will all receive a special discount package in Sports Authority stores and school programs will benefit from joining the USA Rugby/Sports Authority “Ball for All” program.

“The key to introducing rugby to young players is to put a rugby ball in their hands and let them play and enjoy the game. Our new partnership with Sports Authority includes the placement of 10,000 rugby balls into school programs across the country – a huge boost to the game,” said Melville.

In addition to the “Ball For All” program, all active USA Rugby members will receive a special discount offer from Sports Authority. Also, with every dollar spent at Sports Authority by USA Rugby members using their special discount, a nickel goes directly to the youth rugby program.

“Sports Authority is excited to join this partnership with USA Rugby to encourage youth to get active with rugby,” said Jeff Schumacher, Chief Marketing Officer, “We look forward to the growth of this sport and the “Ball for All” program.”
