Chris Armas and Tony Sanneh will be at the camp as well but are not part of the 'official' 27 brought in to camp, they will be continuing their rehab from injuries with the full squad in Florida....

The only real surprises here are McHead and Pope. Everyone's favorite player, Steve Ralston is in camp as well.

I thought DMB was still recovering from knee surgery?

    Four keepers, no Adin Brown?

he is, it wasn't that severe of a surgery though

so he might be ready, he might not

and, personally, i would think ralston is a bigger surprise than pope or mchead

brown's got a foot problem, i don't believe he had surgery (it's against his religion actually, although he has made the concession before)... but he has had a stress fracture for some time

as for 4 keepers, arena probably wants some competition

I just didn't think Bruce would bring in McFragile or Pope until at least April or May. Let these youngins get their feet wet a bit.

With regards to the roster, 4 GK's are alot for a camp. So maybe this is a BA ploy. One part is the team that is actually going to play. The other part is just a bunch of players brought in to practice with the squad as MLS is offseason. I guess we shouldn't draw any conclusions from the list based on who is in the camp. They might just be practice material.

With regards to Brown, with 4 GK's and no Adin Brown, me thinks either he has plans already during this time (wedding or some other b.s.) and declined an invite, or Mr. Brown came in, didn't impress anyone, and won't be called in much anymore. Methinks BA is just letting the other keepers get their run out with the National Team, just to see what they have. Keeping Howard is obvious.

I watched them train last year in Chula Vista and one simple reason that Bruce might want four keepers is just so they can have an even number. that sounds stupid, but i remember of the three in Chula Vista, Rimando kind of got the shaft, he had to warm up with a ball boy or something and got much less field time during scrimmages. question about camp: notable exceptions? conor casey? maybe he's hurt still. Dolo's on break. so is Gibbs. Carrieri needs a call i think, i kind of like that punk.

any word on the Canadian roster?

Staltieri is on Bundesliga break, Hirschfield at Spurs is now third on the chart at there after Sullivan's return...

I knid of like that McBride and Pope are being called up...Maybe da Bruce has them around as an "influence" for the younger guys, and won't use them for the match...just a thought

Immediate thoughts, surprised Cullen wasn't called back up, I thought he played well vs. El Salvador but we are not hurting for defensive mids.

Surprised McCarty was called back as he didn't even make the game squad versus El Salvador.

I couldn't understand why Garcia and Ralston were not in the last camp and it's good to see them here.

Mulrooney and Vagenas are in the squad after returning to fitnss, Mulrooney is listed as defender so I assume he'll be worked at RB.

Barrett is only natural left back so I wonder if Convey will be worked back there.

I guess the Brian West experiment is over.

We all knew McBride would be back when we were playing tougher opponents.

    is GONE
regarding DMB, it was just orthroscopic surgery, so he should definitely be fine by now.

I venture Buddle is still recovering from his broken foot.

Has Arena ever said anything about Buddle? Anything? I'd like to see Buddle start as early as 2004.

I'm really curious now about who BA will pick to start. That's the great part about him-- it's always a surprise.

Good chance that you will see a very young Canadian team on Jan 18th.

I am dissapointed that Thorton was not one of the four keepers selected to the US squad. :(

It is great that the US can field such a quality side with an all-MLS team.

yea, thorton has taken quite a drop on the depth chart since that game against t&t in the last of our wcq'ers before j/k 2002 where he got the start i believe...

yea i guess so, which is odd b/c the guy was listed as one of the 10 alternates for the wc 2002 squad which said something decent about how bruce viewed him at the time. perhaps he has a slight injury or something? not really sure...i know he had a bad tendon problem towards the end of the mls season that was needing some help, not sure if that is still bothering him or not...

what happen w/ Ridzinski ? he never been called up by Canadian nat team, is he not good enough to be in the nat team or what? i think he is the best canadian player i have ever seen and he is Everton starter all the time.

Radzinski has played with the Canadian team twice in 2002 (scoring 2 goals), and I can guarantee you he won't be part of the roster for the US match, as his season is still in full swing on the 18th.

Some notable Canadian players that may be there include Paul Stalteri (Werder Bremen), Julian DeGuzman (Hannover 96) and Dwayne DeRosario (San Jose Earthquakes).

Ther rest of the roster will mostly be filled by little known (outside of Canadian circles) U-23 talent, some of which play in Scandinavian countries (whose leagues are on break for the winter).
