Beckerman? Interesting, and you can see his hands were probably tied with Euros not being called in. A lot of guys from Mexico and MLS with some Euros sprinkled in.

So good to see Klinsmann has moved on from the old days when we rely on the likes of Rico Clarke and Kyle Beckerman to man out midfield....

Oh, wait, never mind. Glad to see DaMarcus back though...

    Not many surprises.

But with so little time between his appointment and this friendly.............he was bound to go with a lot of the established players.

The Belgium and Costa Rica rosters should be more interesting.

Why no Dempsey? Is Fulham in a Europa league game next week? I thought this was an international fixture date, but maybe Europa league games still are scheduled?

I was definitely surprised when I saw some of the names on the roster. Disappointed Gonzalez and Diskerund weren't called in :(

Tim Ream????? I thought he failed already and should never wear the shirt again. Dan Flynn has got to stop calling up his favorites.

So who is everybody's biggest surprise addition/omission?

For me, it's Heath on and Jozy off.

Don't read too much into Jozy. New team, new season (same with Gooch).

Orozco - he sucked in Philly last year is the not so big surprise (as Mexican teams are probably the easiest to get from).

Surprise omission? I can't really say because this one coming at this date poses so many problems for Euros.

    Surprise addition? Beckerman

    Re: Roster for Mex

Well Jozy is only now getting healthy and it is much more important for him to get acclimated with AZ. Smart move I think.

My initial thoughts are that Klinsi likes his Mexican & German league YA's.

This roster makes me think 4-3-3.

    Bill Hamid's a big suprise..........no?

He's been playing well at DC, and will undoubtedly be part of our Olympic team..........but I wouldn't have predicted his inclusion.

Seriously what else does Omar Gonzalez has to do to get into the roster?

    Re: Roster for Mex

It will be very interesting to see how the roster shakes out into a starting lineup. A defense of Dolo--Goodsen--Boca--Chandler would certainly seem likely as well as Bradley-Jones central midfield pairing. Of course, who knows what new stamp Klinsmann is going to make on the team so you could completely throw that out.

But then, looking at our midfielders 6 of the 7 typically play as Central Midfielders while 3 of the 5 forwards have received extensive playing time a wingers. Is he contemplating a 4-5-1 and, if so, who is the 1 -- Agudelo? Buddle?? I think its going to be very interesting to see how the lineup and formation looks especially in the midfield and forward levels.

If he so loves his Mexican players, where is Herculez Gomez?

    Re: Roster for Mex

Freddy Adu got a second chance and proved that he deserved it. Maybe Clark can do the same.

Of the five "forwards" called up, only two of them are actually forwards. Also, I think that six of the seven midfielders are normally central midfielders.
