You gotta be quicker than that. @MattMiazga3 with some clever 👣work. pic.twitter.com/8UcXenjlDt— U.S. Soccer Men's National Team (@USMNT) March 28, 2018
Did everyone see that Panama got waxed by Switzerland 6-0? Still boggling -- even mind-bending -- the US was so bad last cycle.
The Swiss were the first international side who figured out how to game the rankings for seeding purposes. They aren't even remotely close to #6 in the world, hell #10 or #12 is a stretch as well(see 2014 WC inexplicable seeding, and ensuing horrid performance for a potential reminder). They belong firmly in that #15-24 tier or thereabouts. We curb stomped Panama at home as well in qualifying, probably would have helped a lot more if we'd struggled to a 1-0 or 2-1 win, maybe Bruce wouldn't have been so grossly overconfident a few days later.
Shot? Cross? Doesn't matter, it's in the back of the net! Watch @cpulisic_10 hit home his fourth of the @Bundesliga_EN season to give @BVB a 1-0 halftime lead vs. @VfB Stuttgart! pic.twitter.com/ulPn55Fqra— U.S. Soccer Men's National Team (@USMNT) April 8, 2018
Unfortunately, CONMEBOL has only 4.7% of the members of FIFA. CONCACAF and CONMEBOL have 21.3% combined. AFC, CAF, and UEFA each have more members than CONCACAF and CONMEBOL combined.
