A nil-nil draw. Japan is now 0-13-2 against the US, so ...

Brandi played the whole match. Beene played the second half after Mullinix played the first half as the two combined for the clean sheet. Bryan came on for Sobrero in the 57th minute.

Sorry, folks -- I missed the match. I understand Chastain headed one over the net in the 39th minute for possibly the US' best chance of the match.

Your thoughts on how the SJ contingent did?

The game was uneventful and quite boring. You picked a good one to miss.

Chastain did fine (nothing spectacularly good or bad), but both Beene and Bryan made some uncharacteristically bad decisions and may have hurt their respective chances of going to China (either trip).

This game was missing a certain #9, Julie Foudy, and Kristine Lilly so who knows what the result would have been with at least one or two of them in the lineup. Otherwise, this was a chance for Coach Heinrichs to take a look at some young blood, especially Tarpley and O'Reilly.

Bryan made a miscue in the box which had it gone in Japan would have gotten a goal.

Beene played out of her line, but did all right for this game. Mullinix right now has a better shot at getting the top or #2 spot.

Chastain was playing the back line with the occasional forays up front.

Since this was a friendly really nothing more except to scout the players. However, credit to Japan since they are fast improving especially in their region. If the US team playing today were in a match against their mirror selves they would have lost since a player like Mia or Kristine would have finished those misses.

It's still too early but obviously someone who got left off the team (re: Mitts?) for this game is going to be warranted another look.

Beene is still on the team but not as a starter. Right now it's a tossup between Scurry and Mullinix for the starting keeper spot. As for Bryan there is so much depth on the backline that it's going to be a climb if she's going to get another chance at the roster.

Otherwise, watching the NFL was probably more exciting than today's game. Cheers!

:) Some games are like that.

If there chances got hurt, they didn't get killed -- at least for the Four Nations trip.

Beene, Bryan, Brandi to Four Nations
