This is an analogy I've used for some time, and I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else on Big Soccer making the same analogy.
    1) Mexico has been dominated in wars by the USA, just as Holland has been by Germany. Mexico, in addition, has been dominated by the USA economically since then. As a consequence, the Mexicans view us as overlords and have resentment for us, just as the Dutch still have for the Germans. It can be argued that this affects the Mexicans performances against the USA as well as the Dutch performances against the Germans.
    2) Mexico plays a brand of soccer much more similar to the beautiful game than the USA does; the same can be said of the Dutch in relation to the Germans.
    3) The USA usually scores on set pieces against the Mexicans, and the Germans have always been notoriously good at set pieces.
    4) When it counted in the World Cup final in 1974, the Germans beat the Dutch. When it counted in the World Cup quarterfinal in 2002, the USA beat the Mexicans.

are you serious?? the mexican play more of the beutiful game?? have you seen them play as of late?? ugly, all they do is stand around and hit long balls(besides castillo). if mexico closer to the beutiful game than the usa than i never want to see the beutiful game played.

the dutch, just arent the same team they used to be, they just arent a top soccer nation anymore and germany still is.

It's called the 'new generation', bud. Every team has to rejuvenate it's squad and this has happened with Holland. The kids are playing relatively well and Holland is still a top football nation.

Watch Euro 2008 this summer then see if you still say this. There's a reason the Dutch got the highest seed.

Well, México played attractive football for a while but to be fair, that is no longer true. Hugo's tactics are neither attractive nor effective... not that México's football has ever been effective, but at least it was nice to watch, now it's just kinda painful.

thanks for being honest, i respect people who are honest about there team. just how i'll admit the mexican league is king in concacaf by a long shot. Also mexico played one of the most attractive games ive seen in a long time against the usa, why cant they always play like that??
