Wow, 8 saves. Sounds like he was quite important to pulling off this win.

Maybe reports of his death have been exaggerated? Now that's he's been there a while he gets a cup game and does well. That should allow him to get more and give them confidence to play if the starter gets injured and not rush out and get another keeper.

Clearly prioritizing the Champions League and Premier League, Villa played a B side yesterday (10 changes from the weekend and the three subs who came on were kids: 18, 18 and 20). None of the saves Turner made were difficult and the goal he allowed was soft and probably should have been saved (and you can see by his reaction).

iad to the rescue. We may never think a goalkeeper is good or had a good game even. Especially a keeper in the EPL, better yet even England. Everybody back to the regular program of Turner being bad.

During the MLB playoffs I couldn't help but wonder what kind of goalkeeper Tommy Edmon would have become if his father was a soccer fan rather that a baseball fan. (fyi: Edmon is the shortstop for the Dodgers who makes miraculous stops/catches of the balls hit to him). I guess my real point is that we lose so many potential great soccer players because their fathers push another sport onto their sons.

Maybe if he grew about 4 more inches. :)

All of our keepers at the last camp were at least 6'3".

I'd like to think that people are paying attention to us, and not simply hitting a, "Call Up," button on a guy simply because he was called up a bunch 2017-2023. All the stat evidence with Horvath and Steffen for that matter that are truly consequential for a keepers most important job sucks. All of it. We should not be calling either up because both are clearly actively bad. Call up random MLS name that isn't actively bad, and Schulte and Turner and be done with it. Prior caps should be irrelevant when the numbers are this apocalyptically bad.

Neither Horvath or Steffen really deserve call ups right now.

Call up Turner and mix it up in the other two spots.

yeah I was gonna say……… I’m not gonna cap on Steffen after that first goal against LA because it’s just being mean at this point. But if you just watch horvath and Steffen……..our options are really Turner and Schulte. The pool is once again showing “we have who we have” . Absolutely no positive movement here except turners palace cup game.

To me.......................we're about to find out in November what Poch thinks of the pool.

Cuz he and his GK coach had both Turner and Schulte for the October friendlies.

They chose to start Turner in both games.

If they start Turner in both of the Jamaica games, then our #1 is pretty clear for the moment.

I think it’s very likely the #1 right now is Turner. But given how things have gone for him at the club level you need to look at some new faces and see if anyone is capable of challenging him. The alternative options at current being Schulte, Freese, and Celentano as we wait for some of the younger options to progress.

Matt Turner still has some utility for us.

Horvath needs to be dropped immediately unless he has some sort out of the blue career emergence.

Schulte, Celentano, Freese, and Kochen are better options right now. Probably Slonina and Brady too.

Sure, he made 2 saves. So impressed, not the worst MLS keeper anymore. Start him on the MNT immediately.

I don't have an issue if we talk about anybody.
If he's playing; he's playing at a higher level than Slonina after all............................
