Hey, did SA or AO get this same email, I'm just passing along if anyone is interested. -K

Hi. My name is Mark Perryman and I convene the LondonEnglandFans
    supporters group (see www.londonenglandfans.co.uk)

Are you coming in a group to the England vs USA match at Wembley on 28
    May?

We have a tradition of playing a fans match (11-a-side) at Wembley on
the night before, 27 May. We'd love to play a team representing 'Uncle
Sam's Army' and make a real party of it. Let me know if you think you
guys will be able to field a team.

Count me 100% in for that! I play for an English-language team in Berlin called the British Lions.

i just picked up a pair of tickets in the US section and I believe we'll be staying at the Hilton at Wembley Plaza, so a nice easy walk to and from the game. My wife and I are quite ready for this adventure and I'm glad she's ok with this being our "honeymoon"!

Since no one else has answered you yet, no. At least not any half-decent leagues (if any).

Edit: The Championship, League 1, and League 2 play-off finals (for promotion), however, are at Wembley the weekend before the match (May 24, 25, and 26, respectively, usually the last league events for the English season)*

Most leagues (inc. Italy, Spain, Germany, England, France, Portugal) wrap up by the third week of May, some maybe lasting one week later, but in even years (i.e. when there's a Euro or WC tournament, they take particular care to finish even earlier since national team camps start sooner.

Some of the northern countries (e.g. Sweden, etc.) have summer leagues similar to MLS and may have some matches, if you're willing to travel. But I wouldn't be surprised if they took a break in late May/June.

I'm certainly not hyper-talented (AND i'm recovering from knee surgery) but would LOVE to play with you guys.

We need to learn a bit more about our opponents. Are they all Over-40 ex-professional footballers? Or 22-year-old kids?

That sounds pretty awesome. If Team USA doesn't have too many keepers for this, then I would be up for getting to London the night before (I'm currently a goalkeeper for the University of Exeter). Or I could help out on the field if the standard isn't too high and the old people don't want to run around too much.

I just heard back from the Green Man Hotel , its 300 metres from Wembley, and they are looking forward to hosting US fans the night before the game, and possibly on the day of. I will be giving him a call within the next couple of days, and hopefully we can reserve the entire pub for US fans, just like we did in Kaiserslautern and Nurnberg.

If I have to place a deposit on renting the pub, will some of you help out. I can pay some, but I dont have a bunch of spare cash hanging around.

BTW, does Wembley have fields around it, like Home Depot Center? Cause if this was actually in the stadium like Toronto does, that would be too incredible.

Hope they can do both days. I'll look for another post with some more details. I don't have a trust fund, but I will try to pitch in to make this happen...as will my brother and dad.

So we almost have a full team, and we'll definitely need subs , so there are still spaces.

I sent the English fan that is organizing this an email asking where and when the match is. If the match is inside Wembley, that would be amazing. I'm hoping...

Just got this email from the English fan organizing everything :
    --------------------------
    Hi Chase.

We've had some other enquiries from stateside so have cc'ed those in
too so you guys can co-ordinate.

We have booked Wembley Park, its a ground not more than 400 yards from
Wembley Stadium, grass pitches. You play literally in the shadow of the
    famous Wembley.

The format we're thinking of is meet up 5.30pm on Tues 27 May. Each
squad had 30-45mis training and selection.

Then we'd play one game of 90 mins but rotate the teams at half time.
How about you field an over 35s first half, seniors (under 35s) second
half. Could you raise that? Multiple subs permitted too. The idea is
everyone gets a game. We play in national team kits, we always wear red
tho' as we are primarily an away fans' team.

The Green Man? Know it well! Yes adjourn there after. Lots else to
plan, but will be great fun, let me know if all this suits.
    ---------------------------------------------
    - This sounds awesome to me, my friend and I will be in the under 35's.

Let me know which team you guys will be in.
