Since the USWNT and USMNT seem to be lockstep with this whole equal pay issue, I have a great idea. Why are they even negotiating deals separately ? Shouldn't they just negotiate it together ? That'd be a fantastic idea.
The two PAs are separate legal entities. And I'm still convinced that the USMNTPA is "in lockstep" insofar as this remains a vaguely-defined ideal. Their idea of equal may differ substantially, but they aren't yet compelled to offer what that is and can "offer support" risk-free and ride that perceptual wave until things get interesting. It's a no-lose for the USMNTPA, and seeing as they have their own issues with USSF (and an expired CBA), they can send a much needed message about that as well.
Just negotiate together as separate entities or merge them. I don't see the difficulty in it. Except wait, they have different necessities ... *cough* NWSL *cough* ...
Ah, I thought you had a legally-legitimate idea. I'm going to venture that it's not nearly that simple.
Asking Gianni what is being done about it, is directly asking about increasing the purse for the WWC. She specifically said, double it and double it again, and then we are having a conversation. That is entirely different then saying, "Pool the money the USMNT makes from a WC and the USWNT makes from a WWC and divide amongst both." You can argue she is inferring it, and I could argue she's not, and neither of us know for sure. That is my whole point with all this. What the hell is equal in the eyes of the USWNT?
the womens team after the last world cup in 15 talked about pooling and that the men should offer to share the money with the women....its called google.
I think this case if it goes to trial will have significant ramification. Take for instance the issue with male models, they get paid a fraction of female models. Why? because female models generate greater revenue.
'You’re not cutting me out of that upside': Rapinoe, USWNT players upset with new NWSL pay guideline https://sports.yahoo.com/youre-not-...et-with-new-nwsl-pay-guideline-191011758.html If the league is starting to make/invest money, shouldn't USSF be off the hook for paying the players salaries ?
I'm having a hard time figuring out what the aim is? I'm guessing its guaranteed money and benefits for the NT, juiced bonuses, plus" market" national team pay?
Ashlyn Harris calls out USMNT's silence on USWNT lawsuit: It's the 'f— thing that's missing' https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/so...hing-thats-missing/ar-BBWWRi6?ocid=spartanntp
Well, the women's team has spent years denigrating the men's side, and part of their PR strategy in this fight has been to imply that the USMNT deserves to be paid less than the women. Sorry, no, they don't get to demand support now.
Also, didn't the players' union issue a pretty decent statement of solidarity not so long ago? This shit is getting pretty stupid now.
I cross linked this with the thread in the USWNT N&A board. I'll say what I said there: It's hypocritical of the players quoted and a bad look from a PR standpoint for the USWNT. I just don't know if that matters given how dug in everyone is at this point.
