I guess we've played 'em just the once when we got spanked. Does anybody remember that game? Mike Lapper scored probably the GREATEST OWN GOAL IN US SOCCER HISTORY. Sure, Agoos' volley was an ice-cold finish in a much bigger game, but how do you top a 25 yarder? Roll clip, please:
2000 Olympic In Japan where I live (I'm American) they take the Olympics as seriously as the WC because the Japanese got a bronze medal in '68. So I remember the ripping 2-2 draw at Sydney 2000 which ended with the Yanks winning in penalties. We then missed out on a medal by losing to Chile and Spain.
Nakata hitting post in penalties................. one of the worst moments for me as a fan, almost as bad as the Tragedy at Doha where Japan missed out on World Cup 94 by literally a few seconds............. Also I was watching the Olympic match up again the other day (I have it on tape)
To bad we won't be adding to the memories on March 29. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=261477&cc=5901
Doha Hey I was here in Osaka for that one too and I couldn't believe it. A 2-2 last minute draw with, why didn't you say it(?), IRAQ! But as of today no March 29 match between US and Japan. Will it ever happen...?
