I'd think of something along the lines of: Altidore------- WondoCorona------------------DempseyJones---------BeckermanCastillo--Goodson--Onyewu--ParkhurstGuzan With Gomez coming on at some point in the 2nd. Haven't seen Parkhurst yet so I'll be interested in how he does. EDIT: Is Ream available?
------------Altidore---Wondolowski-------- ------------------Dempsey------------------ ------------Torres--------Bradley----------- -----------------Beckerman----------------- -Castillo--Cameron--Goodson--Parkhurst- -------------------Guzan--------------------- Yank Torres and Bradley at the half or right afterwards. Let the rest play for a while.
Me too. Especially since marking Pescadito puts more of a premium on quickness than muscle, and Boca's got some muscle to back Cameron up. The only thing that worries me about Cameron is inexperience. I don't know if he'll cope with the baiting, the diving, the antics. Mental focus, confidence and dealing with gamesmanship are a huge part of a qualifier against these guys. Everybody remembers the last few we had down there, right?
You and I share the same concern. Frankly, I'm not completely confident in that aspect of Geoff's game either. Hopefully he proves me wrong.
JK has to learn not to grind his players into the ground, so I predict he will rest for the first half those that played whole game vs Brazil. 1st-half: Guzan, Parkhurst, Cameron, Goodson, Castillo Beckerman, Torres, Corona, Dempsey Altidore, Boyd 2d-half: Guzan, Dolo, Gooch, Boca, Johnson Donovan, Beckerman, Torres, Dempsey Altidore, Gomez
I really hope to see the entire first team starting for cohesion purposes. In the ~year that JK has been coach there has STILL not been a game where the entire first XI has started together. Subs as much as possible at the half but at least 45 solid minutes of the first team would be very useful before qualifiers IMO. My formation/line-up. Demps as the withdrawn forward, JJ stays at home, MB/JJ manage the midfield, CD/MB run the attack. 4-4-2 Diamond -------------Altidore------------------------ ------------------------Demspey------------ ------------------Bradley-------------------- Torres-------------------------------Donovan -------------------Jones--------------------- Jones-----------------------------------Dolo ------------Boca----------Gooch------------ ------------------Howard-------------------
is altidore even ready to start a match? I highly doubt it. I would think we would see wondo this time.
Is there any way to watch this game online (I don't own a TV)? Sorry for the newbie question, and thanks in advance!
Yanks Abroad player ratings against Brazil: I haven't seen this elsewhere, but if Johnson is injured, that's very concerning. I sure hope he's 100% by Guatemala. Regardless, Castillo certainly now should start against Canada.
Oh crap, on two fronts. One, we need him for Guatemala. Secondly, he's one we want cap-tied ASAP, simply to put all doubts and thoughts of a last-minute Chandler situation right out of everybody's heads. He's clearly a guy that we want to move forward with as a key player for the next several years and then maybe a few more...
Almost same as me, but I'd start Beckerman and Goodson(if healthy) over Edu and Gooch, and bring 6 starters off the bench. I'd also swap LD and Gomez, or play 4-4-2 with both Gomez and Jozy up front, and play Clint and LD at LM and RM.
Except I would go with the 4 5 1 and am open to Gomez and Cam starting. --------------------Jozy/Gomez --------Demps--------------------Donovan -------------Torres---------Bradley ------------------------Edu Johnson-------Boc-----------Cam------------Dolo But if JK is really trying to create that bully type of midfield trio... then I am not sure how to acccomplish it with DWilliams out. Maybe try Bradley and Edu in front of Jones.... who else do we have that can have that edge? I would hate to put Dempsey as an 8 and like Johnson nailing down that LB. How is Cam as a dmid? Or maybe Beckerman with Bradley and Jones in front. That might work.
I want a little of both. The first unit needs some work, and we need rest. I'd start 2nd unite guys in the back, and let the first team offense/mids work together, then sub them out around 55 minutes. --------------Guzan------------ Parky--Goody--Cameron--Castillo --------------Jones (play a DM at DM, who'd have thunk it?) Donovan--Bradley--Torres--Dempsey ---------------Altidore------------ Subs: 1) Beckerman for Jones 2) Edu for Bradley 3) Gomez for Torres (switch to 4-4-2) 4) Wondo for Donovan 5) Corona for Dempsey 6) Boyd for Altidore
This was reported the night of. He was taken off for preventative precautions. He's not "injured" from what I saw.
Btw, I am starting to think more & more, Jurgen is actually just going to put out his best to blend & gain more chemistry. This would relate with the "5 game tourny" thing & so fourth. From this... (http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2012/06/usmnt-aims-to-bounce-back-against-canada.html) it seems as though Jurgen wants to work on more with the 1st 11 after the Brazil dibacle.
time to experiment: -----------------------Altidore---------------------- ---------Dempsey---------------Donovan--------- -----------------Torres------Bradley--------------- -------------------------Edu------------------------ Castillo------------------------------------Parkhurst -------------Goodson---------Cameron------------ ------------------------Guzan---------------------- Captain: Michael Bradley Bench: Rimando, Onyewu, Johnson, Beckerman, Corona, Wondolowski, Boyd Rest: Howard, Bocanegra, Cherundolo, Jones, Gomez Subs: -early- Wondolowski (Dempsey) Corona (Donovan) Onyewu (Goodson) Johnson (Castillo) -later- Beckerman (Edu) Boyd (Altidore)
That's a relief. Yeah...that's what I was afraid of. I still hope he gives Cherundolo and Bocanegra the night off. If he goes with an A lineup, I hope we smash the Canucks and see plenty of early 2nd half subs.
Does Klintsman profess a 4-3-3. Why do people continue to want it to be a 4-1-3-2 or some other different version that 4-3-3. The only way I could describe JK's 4-3-3 in a more pedantic way would be 4-1-2-3
